Calibrated to an accuracy of +/- 4%, the TEKTON 1/4 in. Drive Click Torque Wrench lets you work with confidence, eliminating guessing and the common tendency to overtighten fasteners. Correctly tightening fasteners to vehicle or equipment torque specifications ensures parts are properly secured without being damaged. Simple and easy to use, this wrench has a reversible ratcheting head that drives fasteners in both directions and measures torque in the clockwise direction. To measure torque, set the desired value on the handle scale (inch pounds or Newton meters) and begin tightening the fastener. When the preset torque value is reached, a reliable mechanical operation inside the handle produces a click you can hear and feel, alerting you to stop applying force. Built for consistent performance and years of dependable service, the mechanical design does not need batteries and the all-steel construction has no plastic parts to break or wear out. Important: This wrench is shipped pre-calibrated and ready to use. To help maintain calibration, store at its lowest setting of 20 in./lb. (2.2 Nm) when not in use. The Torque Wrench feels precise and well made and a good value. Note that the major markings on the wrench are both in-lbs and newton-meters, but the vernier markings on the twisting handle are setup for in-lbs, so you need to do a conversion or otherwise estimate intermediate values. (1 n-m is about 9 in-lbs.)

Worked fine on my valve cover cap nuts. Prior to using it, I did some test torques to break it in and to loosen up the spring tension. The 1/4 inch socket holder isn’t as tight as I’d like it, but it does the job for light use.

Torque wrenches are typically not cheap and I had an application where the accuracy wasn’t that important to me but avoiding a stripped nut or bolt was. To to my great surprise, this torque wrench was not only affordable, but compared to the more expensive Snap-On wrench that I usually borrow from a co-worker, it was fairly accurate. I only tested it at 150 in-lbs against a calibrated Snap-On and it was consistently within 3 in-lb. That’s really good at about 1/4 the price. I haven’t used it much, and would recommend checking it against a calibrated standard every once and a while to avoid surprises. Also, when not it use, make sure you set the wrench to the lowest value to avoid creep in the accuracy.
