This is an excellent soft mallet for doing gun smith work. When I bought this, I had the assumption that it was going to be smaller than it actually was. It still did the job. But I would prefer a smaller mallet for smaller pin jobs.

Adequate for soft materials and does not mar. Head weight with soft face felt good in hand, but failed to provide enough force to dislodge a very tight pin. Think a brass face would have been better for my task. Quality was excellent though.

I recently took a course in woodworking, and am trying to master the art of making dovetail joints using hammer and chisel. I was using a wood mallet with the chisels, but it did not have the weight I felt necessary when striking the chisel. A classmate had one of these Tekton mallets, and I purchased it because I liked the feel of it. After using it for several weeks, I love the tool. It feels right in my hand and has enough heft to get the job done, while not being too heavy to control. The black and orange faces tend to become loose but these are easily tightened by hand. My thumbs (I have not lost any fingers yet) are up for this tool.

Great gunsmithing tool! I love it because if I’m a little inaccurate with my strike when driving a pin out or whatever it doesn’t scar the firearm. It’s lightweight, feels good in the hand, and does the job.

Very nice weight, which usually rubber mallets lack. That provides for impact and momentum. Two different hardness heads give suitability for purpose. Rubber heads are screw-on/off, so one can remove them and use bare metal, although perhaps not a recommended application because the thread could be damaged. Very high value for such a modest sale price.

The handle (grip) on this hammer is way too small for the size and weight of the head. It is usable but would be so much better with a proper handle. Quality is good. A better-size handle might earn it an excellent, but not this one.

Does the job. I do think it should come with multiple attachments because the faces are interchangable, but tekton doesn’t have any on the market as far as I know.

I use this mallet on various gun project and works great to not bang up your firearms. Whether knocking out pins on your AR15, or just moving some stubborn parts you will be happy with this one.Larger and longer than the hammers that come in gun repair kits and punch sets. Very sturdy construction. Nice to buy something on the cheap and be pleasantly surprised about the quality.
