With a maximum rated capacity of 8,000 lbs. (4,000 lbs. used as a single line) and a safe working load of 4,000 lbs. (2,000 lbs. used as a single line), the TEKTON 4 Ton Dual Gear Power Puller uses a ratcheting gear pulley system to move heavy loads with one handed operation. It is ideal for use in construction, landscaping, and farm projects. One anchor 5/16 in. safety latch hook and two 5/16 in. safety latch hooks allow for use as either a single line or double line. Safety latch hooks are self-closing for secure connections. Strong 1/4 in. aircraft-grade braided steel cable has a maximum pull length of 12 ft. 7 in. (7 ft. 3 in. used as a double line). Dual gears and locking pawls distribute pulling force evenly. All-steel construction with a corrosion-resistant galvanized finish is built to last. The high-leverage, 21 in. steel ratchet handle with cushioned nonslip grip is comfortable to operate. With secondary pawls released, pumping the handle offers safe and controlled, notch-at-a-time letdown of large loads.

This puller exceeded my expectations several times over. It was purchased with one job in mind and has been usefull for several other applications. The ability to switch from single strand to double strand operation has made it indispensable. This puller with the double gear seems to be more rugged than others that have failed. A third hand would be helpful in initial hookup but other than that I can think of no improvements.

This is an average tool at on ok price. I had to spray the entire thing with lithium grease for it to fucntion correctly. I’ve only used it a few times to move some large maple limbs that came down in a storm. Hasn’t broken yet, but I don’t think I would trust it to the 4 ton limit.

This is the best 4 Ton puller I have found near this price range. I tested it prior to actually taking a chance and going into rough terrain with my 4×4 SUV. This unit pulled the SUV (over 4000 lbs) across the yard with the emergency brake set and front wheels in park. I also tested it by pulling it over a small log. Unit worked well. Some have complained that it was difficult to pull the cable out of the unit, but I followed directions and held the stop pawl away from the spool and it came out easily. The only problem I have is starting and keeping the cable winding on the spool without crossing over. I had to use a screwdriver to keep start the cable winding evenly as shown in the directions. After getting a few turns on it, all went well. When the spool has only three or less turns and a small load, the very stiff cable tends to look like a backlash so had to be careful in starting to rewind cable smoothly.

I used the puller to pull out several stumps (I usually put the stumps under load, then expose and cut the large roots with a reciprocating saw and add counter pressure with a lever on the opposing side like a breaker bar to bounce and break it free). While manually pressing on the release mechanism to reposition the puller, the metal lever failed and broke off.I’ve been otherwise happy with the product, although did not expect this component to fail so catastrophically, and unfortunately it rendered the entire puller useless. I’ve reached out to the support email to see if they cover it under warranty.

Operating Handle release lever is made of cheap metal and difficult to operate. Hook safety latches also cheaply manufactured.

i was amazed at the beauty of this product and its obvious strength. the only down side is the shift pawl. it seems to be loose, requiring me to flip the spring by hand. minor inconvenience. a little tight at first. thanks for giving me a chance to use it before requesting a review. used it for pulling overgrown shrub roots.

I had to dig a lot but the come along finally pulled out an 18” tree. It’s a good unit but the wire cable does occasionally get stuck in the housing and I had to use a flat head screw driver to dislodge it

It works great. You have an even pull with more control.

Have not used yet but the device appears to be designed properly and heavy duty.

I used this come along to lift, section, and then lower a 40 foot spruce tree that fell on our smokehouse roof as well as guide the felling of 8 more similar sized spruces. It worked well, including the notch at a time release function. The switch lever to engage and disengage the pawls is a little thin/weak. If you’re careful using it, it won’t break. Unlike another 4 ton come along I used previously, this one aligned and wound the cable well while under tension. It needed guidance to wind tightly and in line without tension. Overall, I’m happy with its function thus far.The attached picture shows the spruce trees we felled using this come along.

Tekton come-along works as I pulled down some 60 to 70 feet locust trees.

I had a puller that was a hand me down… it broke. I needed a new heavy duty puller. All of the reviews were correct for this puller. It was difficult to get the cable out on first use. The puller cable guide is a bit cumbersome. BUT…with the first tree I pulled out by the roots…I WAS AMAZED. This puller is AWESOME!!!!!Though, as I stated earlier all of the “bad” reviews were correct,(and the reason I gave 4 stars, not 5) I would not trade this puller for any other one out there.Hope this review helps you make your decision?

Dumb design- can’t release cable with one person unless you take unit with you.Cable gets stuck on drum.

We have used it several times since purchasing it.

The mechanism was really hard to unwind…It it wound with just a little to much braided steel.. Make it just a bit shorter or the demesions of the mechanisms bigger where the braided steel is stored. Gets caught, really hard to unwind..!
