The punch cutting surfaces were relatively sharp right out of the package. However, the edges on either were extremely sharp and should be covered to avoid cutting fingers. I used electrical tape after my first cut. I also tried dulling the edges by filing them but found them too thin to actually do any dulling. I would recommend these tools only if precautions are taken.

As punches they perform very well. however, I found the edges of the slots along the side of each punch to be razor sharp resulting in sliced fingers the first time I used them. I ground the edges down and solved that problem. Quality control should have detected this problem.
