With 17 taps and 17 dies in a full range of coarse and fine sizes from #4 to 1/2 in., the TEKTON Tap and Die Set (39-Piece) is the ideal all-purpose set for your garage or shop. These tapered plug taps and dies are the most commonly used style and are perfect for most hand threading applications. They are known for their ability to start easily, either cutting new material or chasing lightly damaged threads. With proper technique and the right lubricant, these taps and dies will cut mild carbon and alloy steel, cast iron, aluminum, brass and bronze.

All parts were there, however the carrying case design allowed all the pieces to fall out of place into a pile at the bottom of the case. Took 20 minutes to re-organize. Had to make a cardboard piece to keep them in place.

This is a decent set of taps and dies but not for very hard metal. Tekton no longer sells this on their web site so they are probably refining this set. It will work in a pinch but not for the professional.

THE DIES CUT BUT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO MAKE DIE THREADS ON THREADED ROD WITH A LOT OF FORCE APPLIEDFOR MAKING NEW THREADS ON TAP HANDLE . HAD IT FOR 1 MONTH .

These taps and dies are a good bargin but if your going to manufacture tools you should at the very least care enough to but them in a a case that will hold the piecs in place . Enerytime the case is opened the first five minutes is spent trying figure out were each piece goes and putting the kit back together . Just like Kobalt tools good tools no consideration about the cases i wont but them for that very reason.
