There’s not a lot to talk about here in terms of features because it’s a simple tool, but it’s a nicely made pair of mini pliers. What’s important in a tool like this is precision. It has to work smoothly and be put together well so that you can grab small objects with precision, bend those little wires or whatever it is that you need to do. This is a precision tool so I do recommend it.

TEKTON Mini Long Nose Pliers – a Home Depot Seeds Program ReviewNeedle nose pliers are one of the basic tools necessary for any home or shop. I have several of different sizes. These TEKTON Mini Long Nose Pliers really help fill out my line. The problem with many needle nose pliers is that they’re too big to properly hold small screws, pins, etc. These are a very good size for that. The tip of the pliers is small, controllable and the tip ends meet perfectly straight and close fully. The pliers’ anvils themselves also meet perfectly the entire length all of the way through the built-in wire cutter. There are no visible gaps in the pliers when closed. While the tip is small, the handles are nearly the same width as full-size pliers. They fit the hand well and provide excellent leverage as would be expected from full-sized pliers. All indications are that the pliers are very well made. The stated country of origin is Taiwan. There are two very interesting features on these pliers. All of my other needle nose pliers have straight teeth that only go about half way down the length of the anvil. The teeth on these Mini Long Nose Pliers are cross-hatched and they cover the entire length of the anvil. This should provide a better grip on items even if they’re not being held right at the tip. The other interesting feature is a fully recessed coil spring that pushes the pliers open. The spring is not so strong that it’s a problem and it’s really nice to not need to maneuver your fingers inside the handles and push them open like with most pliers. These pliers are for finer, detailed work rather than very heavy duty. While I would not hesitate the snip off end of a brad or hold a ¼ inch nut, I would not want to try cutting a 10 penny nail or hold a ½ inch nut. Right tool for the right job.I only find a couple of shortcomings. The recessed coil spring, while very useful for opening the pliers during use, also hold them open when not in use like in a tool bag. I would like to have some sort of lock to hold the pliers closed for storage. Something else I would like to see is some sort of ratcheting mechanism to grasp and hold an item hands-free. The pliers and small and nimble enough for detailed work and being able to use them hands-free would be nice. The ratchet mechanism could also act as the needed locking mechanism already mentioned.Overall, I’m pleased with the TEKTON Mini Long Nose Pliers. They’re well made and I don’t doubt they’ll stand the test of time. The cross-hatching running the length of the anvil is nice and the recessed spring to push the pliers open is great. The lack of a locking mechanism for the pliers means I’ll have to put them in some sort of sheath to store them in a tool bag. A good choice at a good price.

HANDY SIZE; LIGHTWEIGHT with WIRE CUTTER — The TEKTON Mini Long Nose Pliers’s small size and light weight make it convenient for doing electrical work. It has a wire cutter that is intended for 14 gauge wire and up. We have 12 gauge wire in our house so even though it will cut that gauge it requires more pressure and may not be good for the life of the pliers. The pliers do have a lifetime warranty. Unfortunately they have slick plastic grips rather than non-slip grips. One feature that I do not like is that it is spring loaded so it always wants to be open. Supposedly, this feature is to reduce fatigue but it seems to take more effort to keep it closed. It is also more difficult to place it in a tool pouch or belt.
