The TEKTON 1/4 in. and 3/8 in. Drive 6-Point Socket and Ratchet Set includes every socket from 3/16 in. to 3/4 in. and 5 mm to 19 mm with no skipped sizes. The set comes equipped with a 90-Tooth quick-release ratchet as well as a universal joint, power socket adapter, screwdriver bit adapter, extension and spark plug socket which aren’t often found in most sets. All of the tools come stored in a sturdy carrying case. The 6-point socket openings are ideal for working with hex-shaped fasteners and designed to grip the sides and not the corners of the fastener heads, preventing round-off. The large, die-stamped markings are permanently impressed into the material and optimized for readability. A mirror chrome-plated finish protects against corrosion and easily wipes clean.

HIGH QUALITY; MANY PLUSES; WELL-DESIGNED; INCOMPATIBLE POWER SOCKET ADAPTER — The TEKTON 3/16 in. to 3/4 in., 1/4 in. and 3/8 in. Drive 6-Point Socket and Ratchet Set (45-Piece) (5 mm to 19 mm) is a high quality, good value ratchet set with many features to like. It has 6-point sockets, which don’t round the corners on nuts, for both SAE and Metric. The only size missing from my current 3/8″ set is a 13/16″ socket but that is not a major issue. Deep sockets for the metric sizes are also missing. Initially I thought that I preferred my current spinner handle for it was easier to grip than the one in this set. However, then I realized that the included spinner handle has a ratchet assist at the top for getting greater torque. See the photo. Many times in the past I had to use a pliers with my spinner or screwdriver to get the needed torque. I like the 1/4″ bit adapter for it holds a screwdriver bit securely but allows it to be easily removed, unlike the ones with a strong magnet which sometimes require the use of pliers to remove. The ratchet is quick-release which I think is a necessary feature of any ratchet. I like that it has a spark plug socket and a universal joint which are missing from many ratchet sets. It also has a 6″ extension. It has a sturdy case which holds the parts securely. The size markings are etched onto the sockets for easy, long-term reading. It allows me to consolidate my need for 1/4″ and 3/8″ ratchet sets into one set. The only exceptions are when I need the smaller 1/4″ ratchet to get into a tight space or a deep socket, or the 13/16″ socket. TEKTON products also have the best warranty in the business, i.e., always guaranteed. The one feature that I don’t like is that the power socket adapter does not fit into my TEKTON quick change hex bit adapter. See the photo. All of my other drill bits, screwdriver bits, and nut driver attachments have the quick-change hex end so it is a mystery why this TEKTON adapter will not fit. Hence it will be inconvenient to use this adapter unless absolutely essential for I would have to remove the quick change adapter, insert the power socket adapter, use it, then remove it, then reinsert the quick change adapter. The set is made in Taiwan.

Over time, I’ve found that my socket sets have grown some legs and with all the missing pieces it was time for a replacement. That said, these days I do a lot less mechanical DIY stuff, but even for someone who does, I think this is a great set. I own a Tekton Torque Wrench, so have some familiarity with their products and have done some research on their tools. In terms of value for money when taking into account comparably priced sets, I find this offering hard to beat, coming with a full range of socket sizes in both standard and metric. The ‘middling’ sockets (10,11,12,13mm and 1/2, 7/16, 3/8) appear twice – once with 1/4 inch opening and once with the larger 3/8 inch opening (see photo). The 3/8″ ratchet, exceeds ANSI standards for strength (240 vs the 150 standard) and hints at the overall quality. The carrying case is smartly designed with the socket sizes embossed in the plastic – making it easy to locate the right size (I can’t overemphasize how much I like this feature as someone who currently keeps his sockets in a tool chest ((the sizes are also embossed onto the sockets themselves)). The carry case has twin locking tabs and seals tightly for portability or storing. The (ratchet) handle is comfortable, has good weight, and a groove where the index finger rests. At 8.5″ inches long, it’s got good length where some extra leverage is required. The 90-tooth ratchet design means that it ‘bites’ at more points around the arc, increasing adaptability in small spaces and requires very little counter-turn in order to ‘grab’. One of my favorite features is the screwdriver/nut-driver handle which can be used with screwdriver tips using the included adapter (screwdriver tips aren’t included in the set). The butt-end can be affixed to the ratchet handle, a thoughtful innovation, particularly where hand strength isn’t quite enough (see video) and a little extra leverage is needed. This added bit of functionality, IMO, increases the value and versatility of this already well-thought-out set considerably. Tekton is a USA-based company that produces tools in the US and overseas. A really good set, IMO, and I like it a lot.

Standard set with some extras. I like the red carry case – makes it super easy to locate on the shelf since many tools that require cases are black – just a nicety, but handy. The set is solid, the chrome finish is flawless and appears sturdy. The set has both 1/4 and 3/8 in drives, and an adapter also. It also comes with a 6 inch extender, a swivel adapter, a manual non-ratcheting handle (with a hard plastic handle), a 5/8 spark plug socket, and a hex driver bit (first time I have ever seen that included in a set – very nice addition). The ratchet is solid, has a nice hefty feel to it, and all the sockets used thus far snap on easily but with a nice solid feel. A nice solid set overall.

Tekton 45 PC Ratchet & Socket SetThis Tekton 6 point drive socket set has standard and metric sockets from 3/16” to 3/4” and 5mm to 19 mm with a 3/8” drive ratchet with 1/4” adapters. This set, with only a short period of ownership, does feel equivalent to Snap-On and Craftsmen brands. The set has a chrome plated finish that helps protect from corrosion and are well marked, including the red carry case, which is very sturdy. The sockets and extensions seem very well made and should last a long time. As stated – these tools feel like major brands for less money, time will tell if they are long lasting.

I have to admit this is a very good set by tekton. I have even working on my vehicle and this set of sockets came in handy and they do hold up really good taking a lot of torque breaking bolts loose. You can turn this set into a nut driver set. This set comes with sizes 3/16 in to 3/4 in. Sizes and there is no skip sizes. It has a universal joint power socket adapter extension and spark plug socket included in this set. Sockets are 6 point. This comes in a very nice case to keep your socket set in and they stay in there place even been carried around or upside down. This set will last you a very long time to come and I highly recommend them.
