With a 90-tooth gear that produces a working swing arc of just 4 degrees, the Tekton 1/4 Inch Drive x 6 Inch Quick-Release Ratchet doesn’t need much room to operate. Smaller than “low profile”, its ultra-compact head is reduced in every dimension—height, width, and length—allowing it to slip into tighter spaces than other ratchets. Its polished exterior has a chrome plated finish that’s corrosion-resistant and easy to wipe clean.

1/4 in. Drive x 6 in. Quick-Release Ratchet (90T) – I already own a couple of ¼” Craftsman ratchets and some others that I am unimpressed with. Partly because they are short and I can’t get much leverage but mostly because the ratcheting tooth count is about 36. This requires 10 degrees movement for each click; in a tight spot this can be a pain. The Tekton ¼” ratchet is a big step up. It is about 1.5” longer for extra torque but more importantly it has 90 teeth or 4 degrees per click. Even in the tightest spots the ratchet keeps going with very little required movement. One last thing, it is priced competitively with other $15 – $20 ratchets but performs better.

This 1/4″ socket wrench was better than expected! It works great! The handle is a little longer than most 1/4″ ratchets. That is good in my opinion because it give you more torque to loosen or tighten things. The socket release works well and the forward/reverse lever also operates very easily. Basically it works flawlessly. Yet it also fits well in my existing 1/4″ socket set case. I now have 1/4″ socket wrenches with both my 1/4″ socket set and my 3/8″ socket set because there are about 6-8 1/4″ sockets in with my 3/8″ set. Now I don’t have to use the adapter for those sockets. I am looking forward to years of great use.

I have hand-me-down socket sets. Most of the socket sizes are there, but the ratchets are in almost working shape. Sometimes the ratchet skips and jumps, and always it won’t let go of the socket (pry the socket off). It is so nice to have a ratchet that you can count on to work and the quick-release is so much nicer than fighting to get the socket off the ratchet. Also it says “Always Guaranteed”, I hope that means guaranteed for life.

The Tekton 1/4″ Ratchet with it’s longer handle is what I was looking for … Thx
