The Starter Tethering Kit from Tether Tools gives you all the essential gear needed to create a secure data connection between your camera and computer for a tethered workflow. This kit comes with a black USB 2.0 cable that is equipped with a Type-A male connector on one end and a USB mini-B 5-pin male connector on the other side, making it compatible with digital cameras. This USB 2.0 cable is 15′ long and transmits data at a rate of up to 480 Mb/s.
Tether Tools includes two JerkStoppers that remove the strain placed on the computer and camera’s ports from the connecting cable and help ensure the cable stays connected. For preventing tangles, ten ProTab cable ties keep the power, video, and other types of cables well managed and organized. In addition, this kit provides a Tether Tools organization case, so you can store the included cable, cable retention devices, and cable ties.
Please note that only the USB cable is covered by a limited 90-day warranty that does not guard against wear and tear.

I purchased this cable after a couple of failed purchased of other cables. The cable performs as described.

I purchased it to connect a Nikon D4 but the part that connects to the housung which connects to the camera is too thick and I cannot close the housing.

This cord works great and have I no problems connecting my D7100 to Lightroom. I did learn the tip to take the SD cards out of the camera before connecting or Lightroom tries to read all the files on the cards before acknowledging the camera. Nothing to do with the cable though. I’m happy with this as my first tethering cord.

OMG. This is such an amazing thing. Lightning fast. The 15′ is a blessing. I can move around and not worry about the cord. The bonus is it bright Orange. No one will not see it.

Worked really well with my Canon 1D-X in my event photo booth. 15′ of cable was shorter than I expected. I ordered the extension cable after the event. I highly recommend getting the extension cable.

This cable is for my New Nikon D750, which is different from my other old nikon cameras. The one nikon provided from the box is way too short for tether shooting. Tried using other cable from cheaper brand. The signal keeps dropping. Not good for shoot. frustrating.. Tried the cable. so far no dropping of signal. Love the orange colour. easier to spot. Preventing from tripping over. Well, only if the price can be cheaper will be nice…

Yes this is a good purchase because now I can see my image on a bigger screen to view and if not clear focus I can retake image

This is exactly what I was looking for. Wanted the orange color so people see it while walking around the studio area.

I’ve been an assistant to several pro photographers in my local area for a few years now and this is their go- to tether cable for Nikon, Canon, Hasselblad and Phase One medium format digital backs. The 15′ length responds relativley fast without having to use a booster and allowing plenty of moving space from your computer. I’ll be using my orange cable for tethering between my Macbook Pro and all my Nikon camera’s.

The cable works well with my Nikon D90 tethered to my 2-3 year old MacBook Pro with USB ports. The cable seems to be very well constructed and never had an issue with getting images to the notebook. Found the length to work very well for my small available space. Would recommend to anybody with a similar camera and notebook.

It’s a cable and it works. The bright orange color helps keep track of it so it doesn’t get mixed up with other cables, visibility to minimize trip hazard, but works best with two other accessories. To both minimize cable damage at the ends and to keep them from accidentally pulling out of the camera and computer, connecting Tether Tools Jerkstopper at each end is a great idea.

How I use this product: – I use this cable to connect my Canon EOS 5D Mark III to shoot tethered with Capture One Pro. I heard that some people have had problems with a frequently appearing error message. Be sure to go to Edit Preferences Capture Enable Tethered Support and only check the brands you actually use. This will allow the program to instantly narrow down to identifying what you’re shooting with for a better connection. I just tested this out on my most recent catalog shoot and it eliminated the hiccups! 😀 What’s great about it: – The cable is lengthy and transmission of images to the computer seems very fast even though it’s USB 2.0. What’s not so great about it: – They haven’t made a USB 3.0 version of this specific thread (5-pin male), but this one works well for me already. Overall: – It’s pretty straight to the point. If you have multiple ports and some are USB 2.0/3.0, use the 2.0 ones. Don’t forget about the Enabled Tethered Support that I mentioned. I hope that helps! =

This cable is very well made and uses quality components. I like the fact the cores are obviously multi-stranded and laid in a way that makes the cable very flexible so there are no annoying kinks and bends when it is in use. The plugs feel secure and solid and the cable works perfectly as far as tethering my camera to my computer. Only four stars because I just don’t see why it has to be so expensive. Some products are very specific to the task for which they are designed, which obviously means they fill a niche and can command a higher price. While the cable is well constructed of quality components none of them are unique and its use is not particularly esoteric.

Not much I can say. It works as described

It’s a cable…it worked. I would give it 5 starts except several times I had to reboot my laptop. Of course this could be a problem with the laptop(Mac book pro), Lightroom(tethered capture) or the camera(D7000). No way to tell.
