The Starter Tethering Kit from Tether Tools gives you all the essential gear needed to create a secure data connection between your camera and computer for a tethered workflow. This kit comes with a orange USB 2.0 cable that is equipped with a Type-A male connector on one end and a USB mini-B 5-pin male connector on the other side, making it compatible with digital cameras. This USB 2.0 cable is 15′ long and transmits data at a rate of up to 480 Mb/s.
Tether Tools includes two JerkStoppers that remove the strain placed on the computer and camera’s ports from the connecting cable and help ensure the cable stays connected. For preventing tangles, ten ProTab cable ties keep the power, video, and other types of cables well managed and organized. In addition, this kit provides a Tether Tools organization case, so you can store the included cable, cable retention devices, and cable ties.
Please note that only the USB cable is covered by a limited 90-day warranty that does not guard against wear and tear.

This is exactly what I needed. Most cables are shorter and/or black. This bright orange 15′ cable is the way to go. Why make a black cable to tether to a computer in a dark studio I’ll never understand. Having 15′ makes it almost like not being tethered. This works on my d300s and to shi’a laptop.

I had a This is Spinal Tap Moment when picking up the cords. Thought the Cord was 20′ instead it was 20. Yeah imagine my surprise today.

I’d give this a 5 star but the first one I received was bad. It didn’t communicate with my 5D Mk II tethered to LR-5. I called B&H customer service and they quickly determined it was a bad one. Right away they emailed me the warranty papers and sent it back. While waiting for the replacement, I taped two cheap USB cable together to make 10 feet tether. It works, but I still prefer this high quality orange USB from tethered tools.

It’s big help to see your photos as you take them. Images are a lot different when on computer, compared to the little camera screen.

It’s a USB cable, an orange one. Works great, is visible and is long enough. I plan to use for photo booth tethered from my mac to my Canon 7D.

I like that it is orange, easy to see. I use it for my Canon EOS 60D to PC to use with backyardEOS for remote camera control while doing astrophotography. Great quality.

We use this Tether cable for in-studio work. We really like the bright orange cable as it catches the eye and helps avoid us from stepping or tripping over it. The negative, is that it falls out of the camera side jack all the time, even if you have the Jerk Stopper the cable kept coming out of the jack on the camera. We ended up using gaper’s tape to hold the cable in the camera.

The ability to capture images straight into Lightroom and already have your settings applied… I’ll take that!

I have used this cable for several portrait shoots so far. At first I was using the USB cable which came with my Nikon D7000, but it was too short (3 feet). I purchased the Tether Tools cable for a longer reach. I gained something else unexpectedly: a more reliable connection. With the Nikon-supplied cable, I often had trouble getting my Macbook Pro + Lightroom combo to recognize that the camera was attached. I’d have to restart Lightroom and/or turn off/on the camera. I thought this was ‘normal’ behavior, until I started using the Tether Tools cable. I get a flawless connection every time with no fiddling. Well worth the money.

I use this product to connect my Nikon D3 to my MacBook Pro to tether with Aperture. It works great, there is a usual delay on download images between the camera and software, but it’s quite normal. Only thing that I needed to teak a little was from the mini usb side I had to cut off a little rubber away so that it could fit into my Nikon D3 Cable Clip.

Each day we use the TetherPro in our studio to connect our Nikon’s to the IMacs. These new chords we purchased have not failed us one bit! Excellent job TetherPro! It is only 15 feet long so if you like to do TaeBo while taking photographs then you may want to purchase the longer chord! Other than that…no complaints here!

For studio work, this is a great addition. Reviewing images in real time on a 17 screen versus the camera LCD has made a huge difference in my work. 15′ is plenty for me. The bright orange keeps me aware of its presence.

Tethering while shooting headshots and glamour style shoots is really the only way to go for me. Instant gratification and the clients are more enthusiastic about what is working and understand what is not because they are able to see it full screen on a monitor as opposed to squinting over the cameras display. Combined with the Tether Tools JerkStopper it is an indispensable way of conducting business in today’s fast paced work environment. The connection is very firm and feels much more secure than the cable the camera manufacturer provided. The bright orange color truly does stand out in a dimly lit studio even more so than a white cable I’ve had by a lesser manufacturer.

We are using this for a HS commercial photography class. It is tethered to Lightroom and works well with our D7000 and 60D. the orange color helps with potential trip hazard. I’m sure we will order more in the future.
