The Starter Tethering Kit from Tether Tools gives you all the essential gear needed to create a secure data connection between your camera and computer for a tethered workflow. This kit comes with a black USB 3.0 cable that is equipped with a Type-A male connector on one end and a USB micro-B 10-pin male connector on the other side, making it compatible with external hard drives, memory card readers, and more. This USB 3.0 cable is 15′ long and transmits data at a rate of up to 5 Gb/s.
Tether Tools includes two JerkStoppers that remove the strain placed on the computer and camera’s ports from the connecting cable and help ensure the cable stays connected. For preventing tangles, ten ProTab cable ties keep the power, video, and other types of cables well managed and organized. In addition, this kit provides a Tether Tools organization case, so you can store the included cable, cable retention devices, and cable ties.
Please note that only the USB cable is covered by a limited 90-day warranty that does not guard against wear and tear.

The connection seems a little loose and doesn’t work most of the time. I switched to the Canon cord and it works fine! Very disappointed in this purchase and would like to return it but too much time has passed.

Fast, bright colored, and the connections seemed rock solid.

Great quality but not cheap

Great work very well

Just did a shoot tethering Nikon d800 to Lightroom classic CC and it worked perfect. Length is great for moving around easily too and bright colour is a nice feature.

This cable is exactly what I needed.

I use this to tether my 5D Mark IV to my Macbook Pro. Works like a charm!

I had to shave down the head a bit to fit Nikon tether lock clip, drops connection once in a while due to semi-loose connection. But good overall – I like the thickness to the cord and the L-shape. I wish Tether tools made longer cables.

Whats not to love

The length, color and connect are what make the cable great.

The right angle helps keep it in the camera.

It worked some of the time, but Lightroom didn’t detect a camera a lot of the time it seemed like it was plugged in. I think it needs some tape or a gizmo to keep it from being jarred loose. I’m going to keep trying to shoot tethered because it’s a great length and the right angle plug is very handy.

Great quality and product.

But you’ll have to buy a Tether Tools JerkStopper Camera Support, otherwise the cable will fall out the slot

I read an @ review of this chord while in the store at B&H that said this chord was no good. I went ahead and bought it anyway thinking Maybe that guy just got a dud. NOPE. This cable is garbage. Tried connecting it with my D800 and Capture One Pro 7 and it showed up one time before cutting out and never showing up again. I took my other short USB 3 chord that I use for my small mobile drives and everything worked fine. Tried it across different machines too. AVOID THIS CABLE!

I was looking for a fast, reliable option for getting my images from my Nikon D-800 to my Macbook Pro for instant client review while on location. Wireless options are limited and somewhat slow. The TetherPro cable is USB3 which is compatible with the D-800 and backwards compatible to USB2 for my 2007 Macbook Pro. It’s a simple, somewhat old school set up that just works. The cable does easily fall out of the camera’s usb port so a Jerk Stopper or other cable support is needed.

I recently purchased the Nikon D810 which requires the a USB 3.0 cable for connection for tethering. I shoot mostly in studio and at times, on location, require the use of my laptop. Shooting tethered allows the clients to view the images in real time and on a large screen (vice on the 3:2 camera screen. This cable allows me to accomplish my assignments and capitalize on the momentum of the session.

Solid cable. I’ve bought other cables in the past for far less money but they constantly had connectivity problems. This one works great and I’ve never had a problem with a poor connection yet. But still, if other people can make it for a quarter of the price this still seems a little overpriced.

Actually would give it 3.5 stars if I could. Cable works as it should and feels nicely made BUT the USB connector on the computer side is much looser than I would like to be honest. With a USB drive or cable for external drive, the USB cable fits snug. This one is very wobbly and just feels like it will easily fall out – even if you have the lock to stop it from being yanked out.
