The 16′ long, orange Tether Tools TetherPro USB 3.0 Active Extension Cable is a tethering cable which offers fast and reliable transfer of images and data. The TetherPro Premium SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Extension Cable is an active extension device that allows for longer tethering distances without worrying about signal errors or corrupt data transfers.
Up to four active USB extensions and one passive 15′ (4.57 m) USB can be daisy-chained together for a total of 80′ (24.38 m), thus avoiding any drop-off in signals.
With the TetherPro USB 3.0 Extension Cable, signals and data transfers going in and out of the cable are buffered to ensure consistent signal quality, meeting USB’s highest electrical and timing specifications.
The set-up is simple, you just need to plug the male end of the Active Extension Cable into your computer and then plug your camera or other device’s USB cable into the female end of this Extension Cable so the repeater is closest to the device and not the computer. For longer distances, you can simply insert additional Active Extension increments into the chain to achieve the needed distance.

The cable is long enough for my needs, and it works.

Works quite well with my EOS 5D MkII and Darktable running on Linux. Well built, the USB connectors keep firmly attached event without the JerkStopper Extension Lock. Communication loss may happen occasionally but not more than with the original Canon cable alone. I like the color 😉

Seriously good. Costs a little bit more, but lasts much longer than anything else we’ve tried.

I’ve always liked Tether Tools products. They withstand daily use & abuse in a busy studio and still seem to last a long time. These cables are built to last.

I wish the female end wasn’t quite so bulky and maybe there was some kind of locking mechanism to hold the female end to the connecting cable, other than the extremely bulky one that Tether Tools sells.

Having the extension cable enables me to move around with ease on a photo shoot.
