Best quality cable for tether

I recently purchased the Nikon D810 which requires the a USB 3.0 cable for connection for tethering. I shoot mostly in studio and at times, on location, require the use of my laptop. Shooting tethered allows the clients to view the images in real time and on a large screen (vice on the 3:2 camera screen. This cable allows me to accomplish my assignments and capitalize on the momentum of the session.

This cable is the tool what I need to see the photos in my Mac during the shooting. It’s very useful.

Love the length. Love the color. Tethered my D810 rather nicely. At 15ft you might also need a tether booster but maybe give it a whirl first without one.

We are a busy commercial studio and have 10-20 cameras tethered and connected every day, Canon, Nikon, PhaseOne and Sony. The TetherTools cables have been far and away the most reliable, toughest, longest lasting we’ve dealt with, including those boxed with the cameras by the manufacturers. And we love the high visibility orange. On location and in the studio, they are easy to see, and thereby not trip over.

I have been buying tether tools products for years. This is a quality cord. Heavy duty for either studio work or on location. Pairs well with the tether block.

Awful expensive but it works. I’m using it to shoot tethered with my 7D II and lightroom CC.

Great for tethering. Cord easy to see.

So far it’s been a reliable cable, providing a much more useful length than the tiny one that came with my Nikon D810. No issues shooting with it so far. Definitely get the JerkStopper from Tether Tools to use with this, it holds the cord in the camera and has been a lifesaver. Very impressed with Tether Tools as a brand so far, this cable only bolsters my opinion of them.

I shoot tethered for nearly all of my shoots and have used Tether Tools for years. Now I have a new cable and also an older Canon cable I can compare and find far less drop outs with the Canon cable. The new Tether Tools cable just does not fit as snuggly and as I am often shooting alone I find it extremely frustrating that the camera drops out when I use the TT cable.

Heavy duty, works like it should.

Works as promised. Definitely need the TetherBoost for the D810.
Ambrose Lesch (verified owner) –
a very good kit ! should come with 2 cables… even if the price will be high

Needed to upgrade my USB cable and have bought TetherPro in the past. The 3.0 cable should have a performance boost over the 2.0 which is why I bought it. Not sure if there’s anything unique about the cable itself other than the high visibility orange, so the cost may be a turnoff for some. I tend to stick with certain brands and TetherTools makes a diverse, nice line of products.

After using the cord suddenly it stopped working on my one of my IMAC it works fine with the older one but with the New Imac

I am an amature photographer and wanted to learn something new. I bought the Tether Tools kit to try shooting tethered. Hooked it up and it worked perfectly. So far, it looks like high quality and I am very pleased with it.

Professional use. Strong and trust. More discount price.
Gina Wuckert (verified owner) –
What more can I say … it works perfectly from my Nikon D850 to my laptop so I can shoot teetered. The cable is plenty long enough and sturdy enough for use in my studio environment.

The cable worked without interruptions for hours until the battery ran out in the camera. It was difficult at first to connect and then to reconnect, the camera and the MacBook Pro, but I attribute that difficulty to EOS Utility being difficult about the order of connection and turning on of the devices. Not clear instructions on that from EOS Utility.
