I spent about 3 months with this joystick playing Star Wars: Squadrons and Elite Dangerous. At the start, there was a few hours of adjustment as I figured out where to rest my hands for maximum comfort and the sensitivity of the different axis. After that time though, my flying abilities dramatically improved. This was my first flight stick and I liked my experience, but it left me wanting more controls. In Elite Dangerous for example, you only have analogue control of a maximum of 5 of the 6 axis with the HOTAS One, and there are so many controls in game that many of your ships functions require a combination of buttons to activate. This was less of a problem with Squadrons because of its 4 degree of freedom(DOF) flight model, but I found myself really craving another directional hat switch for shield balancing/power shunting. Ultimately I decided to upgrade to two of Thrustmaster’s T16000m sticks. Pros: – Much more accurate flight control than a controller or keyboard and mouse – Cheaper than many other joysticks – Full hand throttle unlike other budget joysticks. – Both the stick and throttle fit well in my average size hands – Adjustable stick tension – Accurate enough sensors on each axis for me – Most buttons are right at your fingertips while in game – Great for 4-DOF flight games – Bump in the middle of the throttle easily helped me find it(this could be a con depending on what games you play) – Natural transition from an Xbox controller, since the buttons are labeled the same(or a ps4 controller for the HOTAS 4 variant) – Software & firmware was simple and didn’t get in the way – Stick and throttle can be separated for ergonomics and still only use 1 usb port Cons: – It feels like a toy and is 100% plastic – Some of the buttons do not feel high quality, they wobble and are not satisfying to press like those on a well made controller – the stick tends to wobble with large inputs when not connected to the throttle or mounted down – Separating and reconnecting the two parts is not seamless; it is difficult to line up and thread the screws, but you are not likely to do this often, I just left mine together 95% of the time. – I wish there were more buttons, especially another hat switch – Less suitable for 6 DOF space sims – Packaged in messy Styrofoam TL;DR Overall, the HOTAS One/4/X is a great way to find out if you will play enough to make the purchase of a stick worthwhile. If you are sure you will keep playing whatever games you are buying this for, I would recommend something in the midrange, like the T16000m, but if you just want to test out a stick, this is the one for you. Also props to B&H for being the only store that regularly refilled stock and sold for MSRP during the pandemic.

I purchased this flight controller on the advice of one of the staff at B&H for use with MS Flight Sim. He was spot on! I have tried other flight sticks in the past for my PC which were just OK but now I wanted one for the PC and an xBox. Thanks to the switch on stick I can choose what I want to use it with. It works great and makes Flight Sim much more realistic than using keyboard commands or the xBox controller. If you want a great flight experience, this is the Flight Stick for you

This is an excellent entry level flight stick for most games that can use it. It has lived up to exactly what was described and I am more than happy with the performance

This is the perfect device for the Flight Simulator 2020 enthusiast, first because it takes care of all your devices at once, works on PC and Xbox One, it is recognized by FS2020 immediately after you install the proper drivers and connect the device, it is customizable and you can use in your lap attached together as pictured, or split them between 2 controllers and use one each side as a real plane would have.

Overall, the Joystick and Throttle Quadrant is great! I only wished there was a way to control the friction when moving the Throttle Lever forward and in reverse.

This is my first HOTAS, so I think I’m not as picky as other users might be. I’ve used this joystick on both my Xbox One X and my PC and have had it for a few weeks. I was pleasantly surprised by Thrustmaster’s software. It was simple to use and worked. As far as the joystick performance goes, this has worked fine for me. After a week of use it was sticking to one side a bit, and I thought it might be going out. This was quickly remedied by loosening the tension knob on the bottom, under the joystick. I’ve been playing Elite Dangerous in VR on the PC, and wow, does this joystick make a huge difference. Maybe down the road, I’ll upgrade to something nicer if I continue playing flight sims, but this is doing just fine for me right now.

Works great with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Recognized by the program and mapped properly. Easy reprogramming.
