I have a few Thule backpacks, this one was a gift. Like all Thule bags it is made tough and looks nice. I use my bag for daily commuting to work by bus, train and taxi and this bag has some big flaws. First, there are a lack of external pockets to quickly stash phone, coins, sunglasses…and face masks. Second, the main pockets are designed to be easily accessed, but frankly it is too easy and borderline insecure. Think twice about this bag, there are many better choices by Thule.

High quality functional bag that is also super cute. Love the blue color! Great mid size bag big enough to store all my stuff but small enough to carry around day to day. The side access zipper to the laptop section makes things easily accessible.

I went into B&H photo looking at another option that costed upwards of $250. After searching through the gear at B&H photo in person, I discovered that this one was perfect for me. For my needs, I don’t have a lot of camera gear, a mirrorless camera and two lenses. Second, my regular backpack was on its last legs and I wanted something that could double as my all-around backpack. This one is perfect! First, the built in camera storage is easily accessible from the side. So you don’t need to take off your backpack, lay it on the ground zip out the entire back, etc. It’s a quick action holster. For better or worse, there are really only 3 slots in the protected camera area for a camera and two lenses (not huge lenses either). To that point, I decided if I finally buy that 600 mm lens I’ve wanted, I can just get a padded case for it and put it in the backpack from the top. Second, and I think the best thing about this bag is that when I’m not schlepping my camera around, the padded camera compartment can come out and I can use it as an all around bag quite easily.

The backpack areas are well designed and live up to the usual Thule quality. I’d say Thule is on par with ThinkTank in that regard. The straps and sternum strap are comfortable and hold their adjustments while taking the bag on and off. The back padding is comfortable and breathable. The top zippered pocket of the 20L is hardened and keeps it’s shape so it’s perfect for glasses or smaller things you don’t want crushed. It also has some smaller mesh organizational pockets which I put some face wipes in as well as a few 4ft charging cables for various devices. The main compartment laptop sleeve fits my 13 MacBook Air enclosed in an additional Thule zippered laptop case. In the main compartment I’m able to fit a small cable organizer or every day carry bag, my portable Sony bluetooth speaker as well as a rain jacket along with some charging bricks and spare camera batteries in the smaller internal pockets. This load out leaves me with a little room to spare in case I pick up something small while out. The zippered side pocket will fit my compact Manfrotto tripod or a smaller water bottle. Keep in mind you can’t stuff the main compartment full at the bottom around the camera insert if you want to use the side pocket for anything substantial. The outer zippered back pocket is only good for longer, flat items. I was able to get a compact rain jacket in there. As for the camera insert, it’s small, I mean really small. I was able to get my FujiFilm X-S10 in there with the new Fuji 33mm f/1.4 lens (hood attached) with a bit of reconfiguring of the separators. If I had the grip or a slightly larger lens it would still fit no problem. I was also able to fit a Canon R6 (no battery grip) with the EF 50mm f/1.2 (hood attached reversed) and lens adaptor (attached) but it was snug. I also just fit a Nikon Z6II (no battery grip) with the Z 50mm f/1.8S lens (hood attached reversed) in as well. You could easily fit another lens in the main compartment or even a smaller lens in the top compartment if you needed to. Overall this is a great bag for those smaller backpack days but you still want to have a proper camera with you just in case. Also, B&H is showing photos for the 20L and 25L here and they are very different in design. I’d suggest going to the Thule site if you need any clarification.

Storage is 20L so this is small bag! Great for day hikes but probably not big enough for longer hikes or international travel where bag has to carry other stuff besides photo equipment. The construction and padding are first rate. Green color is OK, mainly bought it because it was discounted from the black version. The inside is neon green so easy to find things even with limited light. Curious to see how this holds up over time (both wear and color) The shoulder/sternum strap are comfortable and easily adjustable (I am 6-3 and this bag fits me easily but would work equally work on a much smaller person). It has a pass through on the back so that you can carry it with it securily hanging on the extendable handle of other luggage. The back padding is comfortable and looks to be breathable. The top zippered pocket hardened and keeps it’s shape so it’s good for delicate items you don’t want crushed. My only negative for this bag is that the the camera insert, while well padded, is too small as designed. The pouch only allows for a single MFT or APSC camera + single lens the way the camera insert is designed. In other words the camera compartment is too small IMHO. I had guess that from the pictures but wanted to try so I bought it. There room for additional lenses in some ofthe other compartments if needed, but then you’ll be hunting and opening multiple compartments when you want to change lenses/equipment. Ironically I think they could have made the camera case just an inch or two bigger and it would have fit one MFT/APC body + big lense + an addition lens and made the bag much more useful. If all you have is a single body and lens this backpack is awesome. Otherwise you might do better with the DSLR 26L Thule or other product. .
