Transform your Type 2242, Type 2260, or Type 2280 M.2 SATA SSD into a portable USB 3.0 Type-C external drive using the CM80 M.2 SSD Enclosure Kit from Transcend. This enclosure has been built using lightweight aluminum, making it both durable and portable, and an integrated LED indicator lets you know when there is drive activity. Additionally, the USB Attached SCSI Protocol (UASP) helps boost traditional USB 3.0 transfer speeds when used with a UASP-enabled host system, and power is provided via the USB bus. Although the CM80 M.2 SSD Enclosure Kit utilizes a USB Type-C port, a USB Type-C to Type-A cable is included, meaning that other USB cables, such as a USB Type-C to Type-C cable, will need to be purchased separately. Also included is an M.2 adapter, a metal plate, an aluminum sticker, a screwdriver, a copper nut, and three mounting screws.
The M.2 SSD Enclosure Kit only supports M.2 SATA SSDs and is not compatible with M.2 PCIe SSDs.

I was a little concerned that I might not get the full speed of my nvme 1tb ssd but once I popped it in and ran a speed test, I was getting 470 write and 419 read speeds. Very happy with this purchase. Only wish it would’ve come with a usb-c to usb-c cable, but I had one that I’m using.

Only thing I didn’t like was the sticky finish bezel that covers the screws, would make it slightly more difficult to change drives. But then, how many times are you likely to do that? And if you are, just don’t use the finish bezel!

Handled my old 256BG m2.0 drive perfectly, but did NOT work with my newer Samsung 970 EVO plus drive.
