The Transcend 2.5″ SSD/HDD Enclosure Kit converts an internal 2.5″ storage drive for external use by providing an enclosure, SATA adapter, USB cable, and other essential parts. The enclosure is compatible with SSDs and HDDs sporting a SATA interface and a height of up to 9.5mm. For 7mm tall drives, a spacer is provided to help secure the drive within the housing. This is a great way to keep using an SSD (which was an internal hard drive) as an external hard drive. The directions are much improved from the same model that I bought two months ago. It’s easy to insert the SSD into the case if you keep an eye on where parts fit together..

This is my second Transcend 2.5 enclosure. The first I’ve had for more than 2 years and it’s been working great thus far. If I need another, I’ll definitely be buying another one of these through B&H!

not only useful, but looks great also! Tadeusz

I have numerous Office documents and files in the cloud and on numerous flash drives. I wanted to consolidate the information on the flash drives onto a single drive. The transcend met my objectives of being rugged, of sufficient capacity, and being very well priced for speed relative to capacity. A great product.

Great looking and really like the way it holds the drive for travel. HOWEVER, the drive had several issues. (WIN 10). I could not get the drive to keep from going into a sleep mode (Device Manager). It would not wake back up except for unplugging the drive and plugging back in. The Transcend software to do the one touch back up was not reliable. Returning the unit.

Just got my second enclosure kit. It would have taken less than 10 minutes from the time I got it out of the box until I had the drive connected and working if I hadn’t forgotten that I needed to initialize it first! Once I did it was smooth sailing. The kit is complete with a spacer that attaches to the drive when a 7mm unit is installed and a magnetic tip screw driver for final assembly of the shell. The rubber jacket provides bump protection and also keeps the unit from sliding around on the desk. The case is plastic and there are no vents, so it’s probably a better choice for an SSD than a spinning rust drive. That said however my older enclosure does have a 7200rpm drive in it and I have not had problems with overheating.
