LOVE IT!!!! I am a home cook that likes to prepare all kinds of items and have been experimenting with different preservation means. Canning is great but this gives me more dry food options and is quick and easy to use. Jerky is easy to make, especially if you have a food slicer! It helps when cutting fruit too! These two items together allow me to make everything from chips to jerky to fruit preserves!

Surprisingly quiet! It’s a beautiful unit. Such an upgrade from our old dehydrator, which was noisy and had only one setting–on or off. The 9 trays offer so much capacity, and I’m really happy we opted for the stainless steel trays. So far we’ve done cinnamon apples, banana chips, and peach slices. The kids love them and it’s great to offer them such healthy snacks. I am excited to try the natural fruit leather recipe next, as well as kale chips.

Never before have I ever had such a quality dehydrator.I have dried a lot of jerky and sausage over the years in the oven and in a small plug it in and let it rip circular dehydrator, with mixed results many times over drying it and or cooking it instead of drying. But I have never had such a quality appliance as this to make me look like a pro and perfectly dry/dehydrate the foods to the exact way I intended for them to be.It adds an entire new world and multitude of options to the dehydration process. It has a glass door so you can see whats going on while its closed and automatic on The trays are a stainless steel screen like mesh that are easy to clean up.The entire process is adjustable and computer controlled for the heat and time.So far I have dried strawberries and blueberries as a trial and made a small batch of beef jerky from a london broil I picked up the other day and had marinating. Once you learn the right temps and times just set your desired temp and time and relax. No more over drying of certain foods like jerky. (Yeah, I like jerky and make a lot….often. LOL)Everything has turned out perfect and I plan on doing a lot more fruits and vegetables for storage and use over the winter as well some more fruit and jerky for snacks and lunches. This also has a RAW food setting that dries at a super low temp preserving all of the foods enzymes for those on a raw food diet and would require that in their dehydrated foods.Granted this is a large high performance dehydrator thats on the spendy side and may be more than what you need, but if you already do or plan on dehydrating foods for preservation, you would be hard pressed to find a better machine than this one.If you feel the need or desire and have the bucks to spare I highly recommend this dehydrator

This Sedona food dehydrator is my first experience at drying food. I eat mainly produce but have always eaten it raw or cooked. This gives me a new way of eating the things I already eat. Of course I have bought packaged dehydrated fruits before, but this is so much fresher. For my first time, I used a variety of fruits and vegetables. For the fruits it was- apples, cherries, and peaches. For veggies- sweet potatoes and carrots. Most of the items were marinated in either pure maple syrup or honey and cinnamon. I kept it simple and can always try other marinades next time. The suggested temperature was 110 degrees. The time ranged suggested anywhere from six to sixteen hours, depending on what it was. After ten hours, they were not done yet, so I set it for another four hours on the night time setting and went to sleep. In the morning, most were done, like the sweet potatoes and carrots. The cherries were not even close to being done, and the peaches were still soft. I did not want to have it run all night. Next time, I will change up what I use and how much time. This model came with 9 stainless steel trays. It is an upgrade of the plastic trays that are also included. There is also a sheet to catch any drippings and a drying sheet included. The manual said optional on the drying sheet but it came with this model. All the controls are digital and easy to program. There is a day/night mode switch for a quieter fan. The unit can be either used for the whole nine trays or for top or bottom use, with a setting for that. This is a big unit. Almost the size of a microwave. Consideration of a permanent space for it is needed.

I was amazed by how many different things that can be done with this dehydrator. It’s not just for dehydrating fruits and vegetables, you can make actual recipes with it. It comes with a great cd that introduces you to the “recipe” concept. My first try out I prepared marinated vegetables, a vegetable lasagna, slice bananas, sliced strawberries and sliced tomatoes. I was really impressed with the marinated vegetables which were very flavorful. The sliced fruit and tomatoes came out a bit chewier than I would like but the dehydrator lets you adjust time and temperature, so I need to work through my learning curve. The dehydrator is very quiet but it does come with a night time setting which is suppose to be even quieter. I haven’t tried that as I don’t feel a need for it to be quieter. There are 9 shelves with this unit, giving a lot of capacity. The shelves are durable stainless steel and easy to clean. This dehydrator seem to me to be more of a high end kitchen appliance due to it’s price, which seems high to me. And it’s large. You need a big kitchen if you leave this appliance out. Even if you store it, you need a lot of room.
