Description
Triton’s TA1200BS Belt Sander is host to many significant features, from variable speed control for improved versatility, to belt tracking adjustments for accurate alignment of the sanding belt. Fitted with a small diameter front roller ideal for sanding in awkward areas, the TA1200BS boasts a rubber over-molded grip and removable bail handle for increased support, safety and control of the tool. A powerful, variable speed motor drives the sanding belt at between 656 ft. and 1475 ft./minute complemented by the lock on button which provides convenience and comfort during extended use. For a cleaner, safer work environment the TA1200BS is fitted with a side dust port that connects to the dust bag supplied with the machine, or can be connected to a dust extraction system.

Excellent belt sander. Very easy to operate and do belt changes. Variable speed is great when sanding glued joints. There is less chance of glue heating up and clogging up the belt at lower speeds. Dust collection bag can fall off if you’re not careful when installing it.

Haven’t used it much but found it to be far superior to my old porter cable belt sander. This is much quieter, less bulkier, the dust bag is conveniently located and has the added feature of securing it flat.

Comfortable to use and hold onto, sanding power is great and the fact that you can clamp it upside down onto your bench and use it in a fixed position it’s just the icing on the cake. Definitely worth the wait if your local store doesn’t stock it vs grabbing a Ryobi or Ridgid off the shelf.

I have used this belt sander a hand full of times and I’m very happy with the performance so far. The sander has plenty of power and seems to be very durable- pretty early to tell but it looks like it will handle everything I plan to throw at it. The only draw back is the weight. This is a heavy sander and while the weight is good for most applications it will make it hard to handle in some situations.

I bought the sander specifically for its inversion feature, which in my first real use yesterday, worked out really well. The double hold down clamps stayed put yielding no movement by the sander. Overall the sander operated much better than the Craftsman 21″ that it replaced. The noise level was also greatly reduced. The Craftsman was a cheaper sander.

I was a little leery about purchasing this at first because I didn’t know anything about Triton, but after doing some research I decided to take a chance. When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this sander. It’s a very well built, heavy duty sander.The only comment I would make is that, at least for me, this sander didn’t like using coarse paper on pressure treated wood, it tended to clog. In speaking with the customer service rep he said that the 4 x 24 Triton sander would really be a better choice for the sort of work I was doing. So after switching to the 4 x 24, I would have to agree, it’s a beast! If you plan to use this sander to do a lot of outdoor projects with pressure treated wood, I would recommend the stepping up to the 4 x 24. Otherwise, for cabinets or any other heavy duty shop use, I highly recommend it.One thing that I have to mention is that the customer service has been outstanding – above and beyond expectations. The customer service reps have always taken a real personal interest in making sure any questions I had were answered or problems resolved. I couldn’t have asked for anything more.
