Everything advertised is right on.The only thing that has bothered me after about 3 hours of use is that the dust shroud is not as good as advertised. Even when hooked up to my shop vac it blasts a fair amount the other side. As a dedicated router for a table, this is a great and the dust isn’t as much as an issue with dedicated dust collection.Still, great power, the soft start is nice for control, and the adjustments are spot on.I will be buying the smaller version for more fine working.

I purchased this router to mount into my router table to replace my 2 1/4 hp “other brand” router. Since mounting I have used profile, straight and round over bits in it. I just cannot believe the smooth power the Tritan cuts with. Honestly it should with nearly 50% more hp! but the smoothness combined with the extra power is amazing.Add to that the cost – nearly half that of other similarly powered routers and this is a tremendous value.I do not use it in the hand-held fashion so the weight (which is the only con I have ever read on it) isn’t a factor to me.

I intend on making all the cabinets in my home after many hours on the internet I found Mark Sommerfeld cabinet making videos of great interest. I have been a wood worker for over 30 years and love good tools. I have purchased many of my tools over the years new and from estate sales. There is nothing more enjoyable than a finished product.

I watched a bunch of video for different routers and this one was highly recommended and now that I’ve used it i know why. I worked very well in my router table with the big Freud raised panel bits. The adjustment features, and raising the motor up to change bits with the auto lock feature is great. Definitely would recommend this for anyone looking to replace the router in their table. It is a little bit large for regular routering.

* Power of this router worked good with the Freud 99-762 router bits* Variable speed works nicely with the Freud 99-762 router bits* Dust collection works really well* Used this running boards through using the Freud 99-762 router bits to create 19 kitchen cabinet doors* This has met my expectations – enough to where I will be going back to using my router table, as before the router I had vibrated horrible and dust collection was not great and made a mess and lots of dust.I bought this router to run the Freud 99-762 (Rails & Stile) bits since I needed a higher HP router. With the variable speed control, I was able to run the speed the bits needed (16,000rpm). I needed to build a new router table as I didn’t want to use my old one. I used 3/4″ MDF layered with another 1/2″ MDF, this worked really decently, but the issue is the depth of the router getting to the top of the table resulted in me having to route out 7mm from the bottom of the router. This allowed me to get to the height I needed. The locking of the bit feature when the router is raised all the way works great. The adjustment rod works decently to do the adjustments from the top of the router, however with it or manually reaching under, at times there seems to be some type of serious rubbing going on with the lift. I found by lifting on the router while raising/lowering helps with that – but minor/micro adjustments are quite easy. The locking lever did came unscrewed after a bit of use, but I re-installed it with no problems afterwards. Using this router in a router table is really good and I’d recommend people to consider getting this one. The dust collection on the router is good too – with my table I used it along with the router table dust collection. This minimized the amount of dust/chips to nearly nothing. I’m using the 5-gallon dust deputy and the Super Dust Deputy. I have NOT used this free hand, but the spring to do the plunge cuts is strong, but not so strong to make you wrestle it down. One thing that could be improved or provided would be a template of the holes to mount it in a table. They have 3-M6 bolts holes under the plate, however, without a template it was difficult to come up with a way. To handle this, take a piece of paper and cut to a square size of the width of the router. Tape it to the bottom with an edge of where the front of the router is and how you’d want it mounted in your table. Take a carpenters pencil and use it to rub on the paper where the bolt holes are – also rub where the opening of the router is too. Once you have that, place it onto a temp board to drill the holes on your drill press to ensure you have straight holes. With the template board, mount it onto the bottom of your router top (assuming you’ve built a MDF top) – I used brad nails to hold it on. Now drill holes through the top of the router. Next is the fun part to match up the holes. I purchased 4 bolts that were longer than I needed, I used 1 to get one bolt started. With the other 3 cut to length, I was able to get two others started, once those were in, I removed the longer bolt and put in the last bolt that was cut to length.

It is a very powerful machine with minimum amount of noise. It is made very well and is easily adjustable with its knob system and placement. I would recommend this machine.

This is really an incredible router at its price point. At 3.25hp it cuts through materials very efficiently. I am using it for all types of work from 1/4″ round-over to 2 1/2″ raised panel. Best features are the built-in dust collection port and the router lift. That saves you a min of $250!

Short Review: Given it’s power and features, it’s a good buy. It does have some quirks.I’ve had this router for almost a year and I’ve had a chance to put it to work. Made a number of different mouldings with no issues. Sure saves some money making your own. Recently I made 30 some kitchen cabinet doors, all raised panels. It’s had a permanent home in the router table, so I can not say how it works as a hand router. Frankly, it’s a little to big to use by hand, in my opinion. The variable speed is very nice. Handy for me because I could turn it down for a raised panel bit.I bought it mainly because of it’s power. Planned on making the kitchen doors with raised panels and knew I’d need a big router to turn the panel bit, it’s huge. Rails and stiles cut great, smooth and crisp cuts with a good bit. The router complained a little here and there for the raised panels (MDF), even taking multiple cuts and setting my fence forward as far as possible. But it never stopped or bogged down. Just complained a little and made my LED shop lights flicker a little now and then.As for the quirks… The height adjustment above the table is a handy feature (one reason I bought it), but the adjustment tool feels pretty flimsy. It has not broken, but I am concerned how it will last. There are no measurements on the adjustment tool, so it’s not very precise. It can be a lot of hit and miss when trying to set up bits. It also does not tell you which way it up or down. Like that on my PC router. You’d think I’d remember by now, but no.The lift mechanism just seems clunky to me, it’s not as “smooth” as other routers. Some times when I am setting up a bit, when unlocking the router, the router actually drops. So there are times you have to start over. Annoying. To lock the bit to change it, you raise the router and when you get to the top a pin goes into the router shaft.Sadly, that pin does not always come out, or lately, it takes several attempts to get it to actually lock. Makes it worst that this is the only way to loosen or tighten a bit. This router does not have two wrenches to change bits and you can not put two wrenches on it.I have not had much luck with the dust collection, but I do need to upgrade my collection system. Not going to fault that yet. Although, the dust guard is not very tall.If you can live with the quirks, this is a great router because of it’s power and features. You would be hard pressed to find a router this big, with the features at this price. Just be prepared to be a little frustrated. Also, remember, you can not take the motor out of the base, like some routers, so that could be a limit to some.Over all I am happy with it. It has done everything I’ve needed it to do.

This is by far my favorite router in my shop – there are so many things I like about this router and its performed wonderfully on a variety of projects. I chose this router over others in this price and power range because of its versatility. After using this for custom tables and cabinetry in my small shop I am very happy that I chose this router. 1. Power – tons of power. I used this to flatten a 3’x10′ live-edge hickory slab table with a 1-1/2″ bit. I could comfortably take passes up to 3/8″ deep even with the hickory. This is twice the cutting capacity of my other 1/2″ collet router. I was able to move through the table twice as fast with this router. This also has great power and torque when running rail and stile bit sets. I have yet to use a raised profile bit with this router but I believe that it will have tons of power for it.2. Plunging Mechanism – very easy to use. It does take some getting used to to figure out which setting you are on. The rack-and-pinion plunge is very smooth and very consistent. The macro plunge is smooth and worked create for removing material for bowties in the slab table. The micro adjust is great too and allowed me to plunge to the precise depth I wanted. I can plunge the router and engage the different settings without moving my hands from the handle which I love – this means I can position myself for the cut and never have to move even while changing settings on the router. 3. Ergonomics/Stability – I can plunge and then lock the plunge mechanism in place without having to move my hand from the handle. The handles are up high on the router but I don’t mind this. There are times that I have my right hand on the handle and my left on the router base to have maximum control but it is still comfortable. The handles themselves are comfortable. I think some other brands have more comfortable handles for free-hand work but I think this router combines the comfort of freehand with being able to comfortably use it in a flattening jig for slabs and other functions. This router weighs a lot but once you’ve got it positioned on a project or in a table it is very stable and I think the weight allows for this. I can also turn the power on with one hand without having to move either from the handles.4. Mounting into a Router Table – This is the biggest reason I chose this over similar routers. I thin this router mounts into a table better than any other plunge router AND it has a built-in router lift – which SAVES you having to buy one which cannot be said for other brands. I love having this in a router table. I’ve had this in my table for running rail-and-stile bits for cabinet doors, edge profile bits, flush cut bits, etc. 5. Auto Spindle Lock – this mechanism for locking the collet for bit changing is great. After using this I hate having to use two wrenches on my other routers. 6. Safety Features – the power switch is covered by a plexiglass “door” and if you have the router in the bit changing mode the door will not open and you cannot turn it on even by accident. I love this because I know when I am plunging it down to change bits I cannot turn it on and it also cannot turn on when the collet is locked by the spindle. The power switch is also backlit so you can easily tell if the router has power going to it. 7. Vibration – I have noticed much less vibration with this router verses my 1-3/4 HP 1/2″ Collet router. When using this for hours at a time it makes a big difference on my hands to have less vibration.8. 1/4″ and 1/2″ Collets – great for being able to use a variety of bits. I love this feature and use it all the time. 9. Soft Start – very nice feature and it made flattening the table easier because it didn’t jump when you hit the power switch. It is also nice in a router table because it eases into the rpm’s and is easier on the motor over time. 10. Secondary Base Plate – I like the way the metal baseplate feels and the fence seems good. I honestly have not used this yet because I made a plexiglass base for my 1-3/4 HP router than has almost limitless spots for attaching a fence. I mainly use a 3/4″ bit with a fence and have dedicated my 1-3/4 HP router for this function. I think the plunge depth stop could have locking detents for different positions. If you bump it the stops can rotate which means you won’t hit it properly. I’ve found it to be an occasional annoyance but half the time its operator error. The only thing I do not like about this router is the dust shroud. I removed it right away because it was very difficult to see what I was doing especially with plunge cuts. The dust port is also a strange size. I could get my shop-vac line to sit inside there and not move but it was far from perfect. This is the perfect router for a small shop that needs a versatile router that can do just about any function. This is also perfect for dedicating to a router table. I love this router, it is by far my favorite. After handling routers by other manufacturers I like this one the best and am very happy with my investment.

Great router for what I bought it for. Table mounted application. Plenty of power. Very easy to adjust and even fine tune from underneath your table. And the rack and pinion makes coarse adjustments quick. A bit heavy and awkward for hand use.

Excellent product. I had a little difficulty finding all the controls, but that is due to whomever composed the directions. looking for many years of good service.

Excellent value for the price I paid.Might be a tad heavy for hand held use for we older users, but for use in a router table, which is what I bought it for, it works great.

Little to much plastic, but then this is a quality beast that already weighs a lot for a router. There are many fine tuning adjustments that are intuitive and easy to use. It is to big for me to use as a hand held router, but I mounted it under a cast iron table extension where it will stay. Instructions that come with the router could be much better, and I wish it came with a mounting template that included a drill bit size and location for adjustment hole. A caliper and the base plate worked well, but still. I like this router so much, I am ordering its 1.5 HP baby brother Triton to use as a hand held.
