Front wheel drive is not as strong as I would like. The rear wheel drive makes up for the front and makes mowing steep banks a relative ease. Overall, very happy with this mower.

front wheel drive too slow
Ryleigh Douglas (verified owner) –
engine throttle controls (power levers feed to the motor) need to be refined to properly address the power to the machine. (makes it clumsy to operate)

Lots of power. Adjust the speed. Lowered the handles-I’m 5’4”-needed lower height to push through the brush.

Excellent mower. We love it! So much easier to mow and bag.

This model of mower is great and is exactly like the craftsman model I had at before. My only issue was with quality control. On the first day using it, I had to go through and tighten several bolts that weren’t tightened properly at the factory

So far I gave it a three star because I only cut grass twice but I am not pleased because all the parts did not come with the mower. A wing nut for the handle was missing, so I had to order one online and I’m having it deliver to my house.

I made a horrible error in my above “Defective Product” commit and since I cannot delete it I am submitting this one to hopefully bring light to my mistake. The mower is actually excellent, it was damaged in shipment and not detected until closer inspection. Once I bent the front bumper bar back out I discovered how well built this machine is. If you have a heavy detail, large, thick and sloped lawn this mower is for you. The 4 wheel drive is a dream, it is built sturdy, the catcher fills all the way up until it is needed to be emptied, and seems to run all day on a tank. It is a little hard to maneuver around tight turns but trust me you want solid well built with machines.I highly recommend this mower especially for heavier lawns, and am so sorry for my most misleading first commit. God Bless.

This thing is awesome! I have a very hilly yard, retaining walls and all. This will climb up these hills like it’s nothing and you basically have to keep up with it. It has turned my 4hr mowing job into 2hrs. Love it.

My old mower ( John Deere under the Scotts name) was on its last legs after 20 years of service and I needed a replacement. I have a leaf vacuum, (Troybilt under the Craftsman name) that I am very happy with, so I thought a Troybilt mower would be a good investment. I live on a half acre lot that is hilly in the front of the house with lots of trees and other obstructions to weave around. Liked the idea of four wheel power for the hilly part. I Like the more powerful Honda engine and the very large rear drive wheels. Some features that I have issues with are, if you use only the front drive there is very little traction if you are using the grass catcher, the weight of the grass lifts the front end, may be ok if you are mulching. The grass catcher bag leaves a lot to be desired, you can’t really fill it full because the clippings will fall out and you have scoop the grass to the rear of the bag so you can carry full bag to be dumped. My old mower had trap doors that closed on bag when it was removed and was a much better design overall. Also the bag does not look like it will last a long time with heavy usage. Thin materials used on bag. Bag does come off and on nice and easy, but only time will tell if bag construction will hold up. Over all I am pleased with my purchase, but I should be for the cost, the most I have ever spent on a mower. As i am 65 years old, I hope this is the last mower I will have to buy in my lifetime.

The Mower had some issues. I use the mower without the grass catcher bag and the rod and springs on the grass catcher door keeps sliding out causing some issues putting it back together. That could have been designed better. The rear wheel controller came unglued/apart this past weekend on the wife and that took about 45 minutes to repair. The mower has plenty of power and its cutting power and action is excellent. Other than the above mentioned things I am satisfied with the unit.

Great power, easy to use. I would definitely recommend this product

front wheel drive is very weak, no matter how much I tightened the cable. No way could you just use front wheel drive by itself.

cuts fair need mulching blade

My son loves it, the perfect cut. I would give it a five but the I mower was missing a part.

Excellent mower on hills and rough terrain. Dual controls work well, Versatile. Use it in rear wheel most of time, 4 wheel drive on hills. Engine starts easy. Bagger works very well, as does the mulch mode. Have not used side discharge. An upgrade from a front wheel drive only mower. ******

Excellent, I can’t stop bragging about it’s ability to handle the 55 degree slope along side my home. Previously I would use a weed eater to tackle this nightmare and it would be a 2 day chore , I’m in my early seventies. Now two hours later I’m in my hammock. It just powers up the hillside. Super !
