The 6-port ER-6P PoE EdgeRouter with EdgeMAX Technology from Ubiquiti Networks is capable of supporting numerous high-bandwidth clients in an enterprise environment with the ability to support up to 3.4 million packets per second along with a line rate of 4 Gb/s. In addition to supporting multiple high-bandwidth clients, this EdgeRouter also comes equipped with 5 Gigabit Ethernet ports supporting up to 24W of PoE power.
Managing this switch and the network it resides on is simple, thanks to a variety of management tools including DHCP server capabilities, monitoring tools such as ping, trace, discover, and the ability to set up and configure operator and admin user accounts. To secure the network, Ubiquiti has implemented a variety of features including advanced firewall policies and groups as well as NAT rules for specific packet addressing.
Installation of this EdgeRouter is simple, as it comes compatible with a standard rackmount design. Once installed, Ubiquiti offers intuitive management features including an easy-to-use interface complete with graphical menus that can be accessed through a web browser. Additional tools include support of OSPF, RIP, and BGP routing protocols, firewall policies, DHCP services, Quality of Service (QoS) support, and much more.

I wish 3.5 was an option – but will round to 4 – since some of my dislike could have been resolved with more research and different product. The router is great with lots of features. (Some I may never use but have it when I need it). Preface: I have an EdgeRouterX and an AP AC Lite at another location that is awesome and extremely stable. Was looking to replace my aging Apple Extreme office set up. I was already using an AP AC Pro for 2nd Access point. Originally was looking at the USG Gateway and PoE switch to accompany my AP AC Pro. Last minute thought this product would serve both needs with more functionality. Feedback. 1) This product does not have a switch chip set, so each port is a different subnet. Was disappointed for a short term – but now love it. Running existing switches on 2 ports, then Access point on 3rd. I really like the traffic monitoring by device as well as subnet. Turned out I don’t miss the switch capability. 2) PoE. Unfortunately, the PoE in this did not support the AP AC Pro. Turns out I needed 48v and EdgeRouter6p is only 24 V. Very disappointed I still have to run a power injector. (Note to self – Read the specs more carefully) Overall, I am going to keep this router – as I do like the functionality and performance. For how the set up completed – the EdgeRouter4 might have been a better choice to save a few bucks. Or the ERPoE-5 may have been what I really needed for the desired set up. I have been very happy with Ubiquity Products – I totally recommend them – just be sure to order the model that fits your needs.

We utilize these for tower site deployments and like the easy UI setup as well as a deeper CLI configuration experience. The resources are enough for any small to medium application.

Disappointed in Ubiquiti’s decision to discontinue the ER-5PoE router. This replacement router will only do 24V PoE, instead of both 24V/48V PoE that the old router did. The classroom systems we need these for require 48V PoE. I guess I’ll have to go elsewhere for my router needs.

Router has a very complete feature set. The GUI is relatively easy to use. There are many YouTube videos from a number of sources explaining typical setup. Advanced features may require using the embedded Linux CLI interface. Probably overkill for a non-technical user or casual gamer. A good match for 100+ Mb internet connections.
