The UAP-AC-LITE-5 UniFi Access Point Enterprise Wi-Fi System from Ubiquiti Networks is a scalable enterprise access point solution designed to be easily deployed and managed. It supports the 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard with speeds of up to 867 Mb/s in the 5 GHz radio band, and up to 300 Mb/s in the 2.4 GHz radio band. The Wi-Fi system offers simultaneous dual band operation with 2 x 2 MIMO technology for each band. It has a range of up to 400′ and two Gigabit Ethernet ports. This UniFi Access Point (AP) has a sleek design and can be easily mounted to a ceiling tile or wall, using the included mounting hardware.
The Wi-Fi system includes UniFi Controller software that can be installed on a PC, Mac, or Linux machine within the network, and is easily accessible through a standard Web browser. Using the UniFi Controller software, an Enterprise Wi-Fi network can be quickly configured and administered, without any special training. Real-time status, automatic UAP device detection, map loading, and advanced security options are all seamlessly integrated in the system.

The management console for my 5 WAPS and 2 Ubiquiti switches is great, providing with all the information I need to know.

Perhaps the only thing that surpasses the incredible strength of the Wi-Fi broadcast is the great looking form factor and cool blue ring light. I find myself just wanting to look at them cause they are so fleek.

The management software was a little troublesome to setup as it had some port conflicts with existing services. Took a while to sort out the configuration but once done the rest of setup was easy. New network works well.

I run this AP off of a Ubiquiti Edge Router X using the passthrough POE. Setup was a cinch. Plugged it into the router, installed the unifi ap on my desktop, ran through the wizard and it was good to go. I live in a 1500 sqft house and get full 5ghz AC signal throughout the entire structure on our mobile devices.

I’ve had the original UAP for around 4 years or so and found the AP and controller to be a great solution for my home network with 8 users and various home entertainment equipment. It was getting to have issues though. Not because of the equipment, even though the uplink was only 10BaseT, but 2.4 was getting really dirty in my location. Finally getting these new ones for under $ made this upgrade a no brainer.I can’t say what it would be like for a new user since I already had my UniFi controller going on a Pi. My experience was fantastic though, found and adopted the router in no time flat.I don’t know what I’ll do if I can’t get another to expand or replace. All the other good AP’s are way too expensive and the home use ones are just so lame.

The typical home wireless router puts everything in one box – the router, software, and wireless access points. UniFi breaks it apart into plug and play modules that you can place anywhere independently. This gives way more configuration options which is all straight forward with the UniFi software. For those a little more knowledgeable on networking this is an awesome setup to have. Originally I plugged the UAP-AC-LITE into a EdgeRouterX but after power issues I upgraded to the Security Gateway which is a much better experience. Installed the UniFi software on my Macbook Air, it found and provisioned both, and I was up and running. Once it was configured I now only run the UniFi software when there’s a need to check the system. This is enterprise grade with well considered management options and monitoring through an intuitive interface (four WiFi networks, customizable guest web page, deep packet inspection…) Great performance thus far, and with the UAP-AC-LITE using PoE I can have it on UPS while placing it anywhere there is an Ethernet port, like tucked behind the TV 🙂 Now looking to invest in a Cloud key (an independent little box to run the UniFi software) and a UniFi switch (to give more PoE). I’m hooked…

System works great. Only reason I gave 4 stars is because the included software is less than user friendly. Fortunately Greg in sales at B&H gave me a tutorial in-store that allowed me to stumble my way through and get everything set. WIFI inside the house and out in the back yard works perfectly (along with the outdoor access point and powered ethernet switch). Love the system. Thanks to Greg and B&H!!!

I’ve seen a lot of other reviews and you must understand the typical users will have some issues setting this up. I have an IT background and was able to setup it up ok, but they are definitely not plug and play. They instructions that come with them are a very small folded pamphlet. You have to download Unifi Controller software to install on you PC to manage it, so it does not have a built in interface to access. Also, it you want to remotely manage it the Controller software need to be running on you PC all the time, or you will have to pay hundreds of dollars for cloud software key. But if you want to manage it remotely with the Controller software it is pretty tricky to setup and you have to open a bunch of TCP and UDP ports on your firewall which is not worth it. Also after a few hours of use the AP seems to get pretty warm on the bottom. End result is it is an OK AP, but disappointed with the wireless coverage and remote management.
