Expand the range of your 802.11ac Wave 2 network coverage across your home or office by simply plugging the UniFi UAP-Beacon HD Dual-Band Wireless Range Extender from Ubiquiti into an available wall outlet. Featuring 4 x 4 MU-MIMO capabilities to deliver up to 1.7 Gb/s to connected devices, the dual-band range extender works with a nearby UniFi Dream Machine or UniFi Access Point to boost the wireless signal through walls and other obstructions. This helps to provide fast and reliable connections while eliminating Wi-Fi dead spots. You can optimize your network by using the 5 GHz band for bandwidth-intensive activities such as video streaming and gaming while reserving the 2.4 GHz band for email and other everyday uses. The UniFi Network App and Network Management Controller software allow you to configure and manage your network, including setting up guest logins, analyzing performance, and more.

This AP is a life saver where pulling a wire is difficult or impossible. I’ve constantly surprised by the range and speed it’s able to achieve. I use one in almost every UniFi installation!

I needed and extender to connect my Ubiquiti Disc to extend the Wifi to my garage. My Tesla now gets its updates without issue. The garage is one floor up and 3-4 walls away. I’m impressed with this device. It was easy to install. I’m a novice but was able to download the Ubiqiti app and see it connect to the network. You must have access to your UnifiNetwork for it to work. Thanks to B&H customer service i got the right tool for the job.

I had one area of our home with spotty WiFi and the Beacon HD fixed it without me having to run any additional wiring.

I used these to replace an Amplifi LR system. While there was nothing wrong with the Amplifi system I found the mesh points to be to slow. I was getting about 30 meg when connected to an Amplifi meshpoint. With this I get about 130 meg which is quite an improvement. (Note these do not work with Amplifi system if that wasn’t clear. I also bought the Unifi UDM to use these)

Wanted to extend the range of my Dream Machine (udm) in a three floor 2400 sqft house. UDM is in the front first floor because that’s where the cable line comes in unfortunately so there’s a poor reception region in the back of the first floor and basement. No matter where I put the beacon hd using Wi-FiSweetspots and fast.com to measure the same 6 test spots on the first and second floors I did extend the range to get from 6-20 Mbps in the back to around 60 Mbps on the first floor. But the trade off is areas in the second floor where I would get 234 Mbps being above the router would consistently drop to about 170 Mbps or in the case of a second floor back room that got 80 without the beacon got 2 Mbps with the beacon right below on the first floor. I’m not sure the speed penalties everywhere else are worth the modest speed boost in one room. It’s also very temperamental during set up and some outlets looks the same but inexplicably just pushes it back out

If you have a Unifi Wifi network and just need to add some coverage in a dead area, this is the device. Perfect solution, but it does take up a whole duplex outlet so you won’t be able to plug anything else in.

I have an IoT device with a lousy radio antenna that wasn’t getting a good signal from my UAP that serves every other device on that floor. Placing this within feet of the IoT device made it work and stable. The Beacon is super easy to install, it pops up in the app and automatically configures to the network. As a bonus, you can specify which wifi networks it extends which means I could extend just my 2.4ghz legacy IoT network and not the rest of them which would prevent other devices from getting confused. Only gripe is that it takes an entire wall outlet, I wish it was smaller so I kept an outlet.

With living in a three floor house, this thing has evened out the wireless signal to the other devices on the 2nd floor. It was acting odd for the first half an hour, but after a quick factory reset and then two firmware updates it works like a charm. Definitely recommended if you use a UniFi Dream Machine, but remember you’re gonna give up an outlet for it.
