The fully manageable US-8-60W UniFi 8-Port Gigabit PoE Compliant Managed Switch from Ubiquiti Networks features 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports in a small form factor offering improved performance and intelligent switching capabilities for expanding networks. In addition to the 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports, this switch offers 8 Gbps non-blocking throughput, a 16 Gbps switching capacity, and a 11.9 mpps forwarding rate. It also delivers up to 15.4W of power per PoE port.
Once installed, this UniFi switch can be managed using Ubiquiti’s own UniFi Controller software giving network administrators the ability to manage multiple sites from a single interface. Network admins have full access to various Ubiquiti devices within the network with the ability to change operating modes, monitor the status of each device, manage spanning tree configuration, and much more.

Switch is OK, and it is getting better. However, it is missing some things like IGMPv3 that you can find on cheaper switches. Unlike the cheaper switches though it can be controlled with a Cloudkey or whatever you are running the Unifi Controller on. It runs warm, so do not be surprised by that, as it is passively cooled. So keep that in mind when you decide where you want to mount/place it. Ubiquiti does seem to update firmware very often, and the missing features it has are planned for future firmware/controller upgrades.

So I got this switch along with a cloud key and an access point. Before long I was making vlans, using POE for the AP, and running 4 SSIDs on one AP using 4 different VLANs. Its phenomenal!

The switch is great. I mean it’s just a switch but the management features via the cloud key and portal app are also super. POE / power over ethernet, didn’t realize how useful that can be. Will consider getting a POE phone and other devices soon perhaps too, now that we can! Other great things are the entire Ubiquiti solution we bought is working flawlessly when put all together. We have it all connected: the gateway router + 8 port managed switch + ACPRO + ACMESH + cloud key. It’s just amazing really with the seamless hop / hop-back between the access points, and the reporting features and iPhone app are also very cool!

Worked as described. Really appreciated the fact it could be mounted in any of 4 directions – ports up, down, left or right.

shipping was fast switch works perfect.

I recently started installing only Ubiquiti and couldn’t be happier with the ease of installation and reliability

Simple and works great with other Ubiquiti products. Very convenient if only need a few POE devices

Dumped tplink Poe switches for these. My IP cameras now stay connected. I can control each port if I need to restart the cams without digging into my rack. Great UniFi integration.

Installed, connected and provisioned switch in minutes, and was up and running shortly thereafter. I wont use any other brand than ubiquiti in my home network because I know it will simply work.

Really intuitive router. Only thing that would make it perfect is an easier to set up von

The unit is constructed well. Sturdy construction. No complaints about it other than the chassis seems a bit hot to the touch. I believe that’s normal. I only have one Unifi AP AC Pro, Unifi Cloud Key, a Mac computer, a copier, and it connects to another Unifi Switch 8 150W. I have it sitting in a small office, so its ideal since there is no fan noise to contend with. The low cost, solid construction, management via the controller, and ease in implementation make it an ideal solution for small businesses.

Work great!! Well worth the $$. With the Controller, it tells you how devices are wired.

I like this for the price and for general POE use. Mount it on a wall or place it on a shelf. Great little switch general purpose.

I purchased this switch to pair with a set of new in-wall APs (which require POE) to extend my wireless network into areas of the house with weak signal. My research pre-purchase simplified installation and adoption of the switch in the Ubiquiti Management software. If you’re looking for a simple switch, there are probably simpler products for you to buy/install. But if you’re looking for great value with great features and you have a little networking background (or a willingness to learn), definitely give this guy a look.

Switch just works. Everything went smoothly.

Did I mention hot?, this thing is tiny and feature packed. Best part is that you can run your AP and Cloud key on PoE. It runs a bit warm. Provide it a ventilated spot or a large heat sink, like a metal media enclosure and it will be happy. Buy from BH as they are an authorized reseller of Ubiquiti and you will not have any warranty hassles.

First, five stars. This switch does exactly what I bought it for with one exception. I’ll alert you to that in a minute. Ours is a home network with around 30 devices. I’ve moved to Ubiquiti for access points and switches, but I still use a Mikrotik hAP as a router. No issues there. I use a Synology NAS to run Unifi so it is always available. You must use a NAS capable of running Docker to do this. I had planned to use the US-8-60W switch to work as PoE to a UAP-IW which would then pass the PoE to a Flex mini in my stereo closet. This switch does not support the PoE pass through. You have to buy the USB-8-150W to use the pass through. The Flex-mini comes with a USB power adapter which works fine and I had plenty of power in the closet so I did not need to swap the switch. The US-8-60W powers the IW , two UAP-AC-LR devices and one Flex-mini without a problem. The IW switches the ethernet to the stereo closet using the non-PoE port. So far, so good. In the first days of using this configuration, the UniFi software had a hard time mapping the network correctly. I am pleased to report that the problem resolved itself and the US-8-60W is working very nicely at the head of the network. Throughput’s good and the software tools have helped me eliminate several problems in the network.

Although the headline says “US-8-60W” only four of the eight ports are POE. See the image on the website.

Not much else to say, intergrates well with Unifi and makes it easy to configure VLAN support.

I dont think theres much to say about a Switch – if everything works, you dont even notice its there. I kind of wish there was support for 802.3at (even if it meant only having 2 active PoE ports), since this Switch cant drive newer APs like the HD. Id also wish it ran a little cooler – this thing gets pretty hot to the touch, even with just a single PoE output being used.
