The fully manageable US-8 UniFi 8-Port Gigabit PoE Compliant Managed Switch from Ubiquiti Networks features 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports in a small form factor offering improved performance and intelligent switching capabilities for expanding networks. In addition to the 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports, this switch offers 8 Gbps non-blocking throughput, a 16 Gbps switching capacity, and a 11.9 mpps forwarding rate. It also delivers up to 12W of power PoE power passthrough.
Once installed, this UniFi switch can be managed using Ubiquiti’s own UniFi Controller software giving network administrators the ability to manage multiple sites from a single interface. Network admins have full access to various Ubiquiti devices within the network with the ability to change operating modes, monitor the status of each device, manage spanning tree configuration, and much more.

These things are great, this is my 4th or 5th 8-port switch I’ve deployed. Zero problems on either of them. Haven’t done any actual speed tests, but have encountered no unexpected performance. Will continue to purchase these. Ubiquiti is great!

I have deployed these switches in places where it was hard to run power. So far they have been operating great and no problems. Only one concern is thermal issues, since this product gets very warm when all ports are filled and it is passing through POE to power wireless AP.

The management functionality of the router works great, I haven’t been able to get POE working.

I don’t need any PoE ports, but this is my first managed switch, and I like it. I could use more ports altogether, so when I upgrade to a 16- or 24-port model this will go on my desk, but until then this does the job.

I’ve never considered networking to be an exciting part of computing, but I have to hand it to Ubiquiti, their switches are easy to set up, and all UniFi hardware is accessible from a single web portal which is pleasant to use. The hardware works well, I have no complaints about it, it’s really the software which sets Ubiquiti apart from its competitors.

great switch, works well in the unifi family. can be powered by PoE (port 1) a real nice feature.

This is a great switch. I have no direct complaints about the switch itself. In fact, it is even showing me that my home networks wiring is not up to snuff since it indicates that the cat 5e cabling is only supporting 100 Mbps while the connection to the Ubiquiti router supports 1 Gbps. So what is wrong with this switch that I only give it four stars? The configuration software, while well designed from an interface standpoint, requires Java just to work. Ubiquiti clearly wants customers to use their cloud based management software which is probably fantastic for an enterprise with hundreds or thousands of devices to manage, but for the SOHO market it is overkill. I mostly have to question why the stand alone management software relies on Java with all of the inherent security vulnerabilities; was there any reason at all to use Java? A final reason I dropped the fifth star was because once I configured the switch the management software would no longer connect to it when I tried to pull stats over a non-Ubiquiti AP. The management console just shows the switch as disconnected though it is functioning fine. With all those tools and metrics I wanted to be able to see them from a laptop. Not a ding, but definitely something of note: this is a managed switch and it requires some familiarity with networking in order to configure. It is a switch so it is not terribly difficult to set up, but it is not plug and play like the consumer unmanaged switches. It also runs warm, but not hot. I can leave my hand on it and it is not uncomfortable.

Easy as pie, connect to power, either POE or wall, adopt in Unifi controller, update and that’s it. Ubiquiti gear and the Unifi line is the best there is.
