Ratchet handles are used together with sockets, the ratchet handle is the lever arm that lets you apply torque using the socket attached to it. The reversible mechanism lets the socket turn in both directions for tightening and loosening. The design and dimensions of 1/2 in. ratchet handles are ideal for automotive maintenance and general mechanic work , in situations where higher torque is required and there is more room for work. The maximum recommended torque for a 1/2 in. ratchet handle is 4500 lbs. For FOD (Foreign Object Debris) applications, the use of sockets with a blue finish is recommended so that no coating will flake off.

I have been doing suspension and brake work for over 55 years, I started with my dad’s Proto and Snap tools. I needed another mid length 1/2 inch drive ratchet with a robust tooth count, a socket release and deep knurling on the handle, this ratchet has all that. The weight, feel and chrome are excellent; Proto-like durability and quality at half the price. BTW, their hand wrenches are very good also.

The ratchet works fine. I’m giving it 3 stars because switching the ratchet from tighten to loosen appears to be too loose. I mean the switch may wear down. And I’m not a fan of the release button because i feel like that could brake a lot easier.
