The Verbatim UltraLife Gold Archival Grade CD-R 80 Minute, 700MB, 52x Recordable Disc (Jewel case pack of 5) is a write-once disc using the Dual Reflective Layers (DRL) surface coating to maximize both compatibility and longevity. The dual reflective technology is comprised of a silver layer for broad compatibility and a gold layer for long archival life. The highly-reflective silver layer provides a low initial error rate, important for long archival life, and the same drive read/write compatibility as standard silver-only discs. The gold reflective layer is naturally resistant to corrosion. It overlaps the silver layer and prevents oxygen from coming through the lacquer layer or edge of the disc and corroding the silver.

I had a number of fujifilm cds which were advertised as archival on which I burned vacation photos and the like for protection and storage in 2007. They did not hold up. I researched the current archival cds and decided to try these. I had zero problems with these discs. Throughout the burning process they performed flawlessly -AND I’ve also used them for audio applications with great results!

The product was as stated, and exactly what I needed. …

Time will tell ultimately, but they seem to work well.

Purchased these since I had a problem burning iTunes playlists to other discs. Initially, these didn’t work any better. Resolution with Apple was to delete iTunes SW and reinstall. Old discs and these “work” now. Don’t know if they’re worth the premium price. Don’t believe I can erase ruined discs.

I use this to archive recordings of performances in which am involved. It’s great in that it offers assurance that it will last a long time.My only criticism is that the shrinkwrap can be difficult to open without using a knife.
