I’ve been searching for a long time for a wreath hanger that was adjustable over the entire length (height)–so the wreath could hang right at the top or anywhere below. Some of the slides (including another one from this manufacturer) have a cross piece somewhere along the channel in which the hook sits, effectively acting as a stop so that the wreath cannot be moved past it. This is the ONLY one that I’ve found in which the hook that is almost “infinitely” adjustable. The material seems to be iron and is fairly heavy. The surface is not smooth/polished, but I guess that’s part of the “wrought iron” look. My only complaint is that the hook is curved (rather than flat), so if you want to hang the wreath from a ribbon or chain, rather than putting the wreath itself on the hook, the ribbon/chain tends to swing a bit. It’s a tradeoff I can live with because I really wanted an infinitely adjustable hanger. The hanger is also more of the ornate variety, so if you want simple/unfussy, this might not be for you. The black blends with the color of my door, so I do not mind. Be careful when you are adjusting the hook because it is easy for the adjusting knob to come off. I gave it 5 stars because, all things considered, it’s a very useful product for my needs.
