I haven’t a clue of how this works. I’ve tried a dozen times to put all my pictures on the hard drive and nothing is working

WD 4 TB My Passport is very light and fast !

Old school design, but gets the job done if you just need some external storage.
Dillan Marks (verified owner) –
It works fine, so far hasn’t lost any data.

Fast, reliable transfer. I use it as Time Machine for two of my Macs.
Ofelia Dibbert (verified owner) –
So far so good. WD drives have always been reliable for me.

Hard drive works great. Transfer speed is incredible. It includes both 2.0 & 3.0 USB ports. Plenty storage for pictures, music & videos. Would recommend for purchase.
Kali Abshire (verified owner) –
Easy to use, has more capacity than I’ll ever need.
Israel Rempel (verified owner) –
Nice compact size & it just works right out of the box. My only concern is 5TB enough for what I bought it for, which is ripping ~2500 CDs to FLAC.

I’ve been buying these WD Passport drives from B & H for years & this one is the best so far. I’m amazed by the speed compared to the others, it’s so much faster. This new version is also a bit smaller in physical size & easier to carry. Great drive. Very happy.

WD has great products. This is another one. Can use it right out of the box. High capacity. High transfer rate. Never had any problems with any WD drives.

I have been using the older verison of this drive (12 disks) and now they have this newer version. So I bought two of these to use as backup disks. So far they are working properly. It is always scary to buy hard drives that have not been tested/rated by customers so I will update this review immediately if one of them has any problems!

I’ve been looking for a larger portable USB drive as the last piece of my photography storage and backup solution. I really wish they made an 8TB model but the 5TB capacity is certainly a welcome improvement over the 4TB models. I have two WD MyCloud devices that I use for storing my photo images. RAW files go on one device and my Lightroom DNG files on the second. I then synch each of those to a WD MyCloud EX2 Ultra for on-site backup. I also wanted to have an off-site backup copy. I’ve tried cloud options but in spite of having 250+ GBps download speeds my upload is terribly slow and it’s not practical to synch. This 5TB WD Passport solves the problem. I connect it to the back of the EX2 and use the built-in USB backup tool. You can set it in synch mode so it only backs up changes, or you can do a full copy. Once the backup is done, I take the Passport to my office then bring it back every month to update. This way I have redundancy from disc failure, device failure and a location disaster. It’s a little bit of manual work but worth it.

It could be a little faster, but it serves me well as my laptop’s main drive.

This is my second hard disk of this model. Bought the second just weeks after the first one based on the slim profile and good performance on my MacBook Pro.

This is great for keeping all of my content on my hard drive photos, videos etc. It has always been reliable never failed got the 4tb version to make it last longer. Fast easy to use just plug in to your mac and follow the instructions.
