This hardrive does a great job of working with time machine on macs for easy backup service.

I use this external drive to archive old photographs. It is very easy to use, and is very fast. As time has gone on, the form factor for these WD drives has continued to decrease. It is very light and small, and could even fit in a shirt pocket. It comes pre-formatted for Mac and can be used immediately upon plugging it into a usb port on your computer. After reading up on many alternatives, I concluded that this is the best value for the money and I haven’t been disappointed.

Work fine , easy to carry.

Good, fast transfer. Love the size and portability of the drive. I work in college athletics and use it primarily for backing up photos and videos.

Truly plug-n-play, software performed backup automatically – done!

Love em… Bought two, to archieve and back-up my rather large CD music collection (FLACK files). Great size, about the size of a cassette, or pack of cigarettes. So far, so good… Would definitely buy them again…

Good for general storage, but as always, you need 2 of them for redundancy. no hard drive will last you forever with no errors. I haven’t had a problem yet after a year of use. The connector is scary though.

I bought this portable hard drive to use with my laptop when I’m in the field shooting and for transfer to my workstation when I return home. And for this function, the drive works flawlessly. I decided I needed a total system backup drive and started using this 1TB drive as my Time Machine backup drive. It’s fast, rock solid and provides me not only a total system backup but security and confidence I will not lose critical images or data.

I use it for my Macbook Pro. I just plug it in and use time machine. It is incredibly simple and fast. Perfect!

I have only had it for a few days, so the main thing I can say is it works. Other than that, here is what CrystalDiskInfo says about it: Inside the enclosure is the WDC WD50NDZW 5000.9 GB drive. The interface is USB (Serial ATA). The transfer mode is SATA 600. The standard it follows is ACS-3 Revision 5. It features S.M.A.R.T., APM, NCQ, TRIM. And its rotation rate is 5400 RPM. Beyond that, it is in an elegant black enclosure, is USB powered, very quiet, and its temperature is is 36C after about 12 hours being hooked up to the computer so far today.

I really like how small and light the Western Digital Passport is. The storage capacity is perfect for an external drive to my laptop. It was very easy and quick to set up, basically plug in and go. My only complaint is that it doesn’t respond well once it goes to sleep. My old one was very quick to respond, all you had to do was click on the drive in Finder and was good to go. This new one doesn’t respond, the only way to “wake” it up is to unplug/replug it in.

Great size and very reliable so far. As portable drive capacities get larger and larger, I don’t have to carry more than one or two when I’m on the road and still have my work and entertainment files. Have to ensure I have solid backups, but that’s fairly easy to do these days!

Easy, out of the box ready. Plug and play. Easty to drag files. Convenient size and shape.

This drive is a good product, small and compact, and is just what I needed. Easiest setup ever, plug and go. The sale price here sealed the deal. Highly recommended.

These Passport drives are getting better and better.

Have been using 2, WD 4TB My Passport as additional backups but they needed to be retired/stored. Replaced with 2, 5TB WD My Passport they are working perfect.

Nice build quality, WD did an amazing job in the design. I use this all the time to back up my Photos and Videos. It was a little smaller than I thought it would be, but this makes it very good for storing media on my little Camera shelf. And I love the color!! All around it is a pretty good harddrive. Good job WD!!!!!! Love the Drive.

A great little hard drive. It comes with two cables for the different USB ports, which is a plus. It comes formatted in Mac OS Extended, which, while making it Mac specific, makes it easy to partition. I partitioned mine to use 1/4 of the space as a Time Machine, with the rest for file storage.
