I bought this item to backup all my photos and videos while travelling. After each day photo session, I transfer photos and videos from my SDHC card to my MacBook Air. I discard bad shots and do some adjustments for the good ones and store them in Aperture. After that first clean up, I export the working copies to My Passport (original size). That way I keep all the time 3 versions: originals on SDHC cards, good ones after the first sort on MacBook Air (in Aperture) and exported copies on My Passport.I keep My Passport with me all the time. If my laptop is stolen, I’m safe.

I was amazed at how small this thing is. 4x3x.5 about the same size as a cellphone and its 2tb. my only complaint was it is a 3.0 USB to USB micro which seems strange, also no power button, but for the price-storage ratio, you can’t beat it.

Esta marca funciona muy bien con Mac, por lo menos a mi siempre me dio un buen resultado

I have been buying WD Passports over the years for storage needs. Not one failure yet. Well built and priced right.

I’ve had it for a few weeks, no issues or complaints, great price for what you get

Although I still had memory space on my old WD, it was extraordinarily slow and often not responsive. I finally replaced it with this, and it’s fast and backing up efficiently.

I’ve been using WD External dives for some time never a problem. Need this for my old iPhotos/Photos so they would be off my laptop hard drive. Easy to format for my mac, helps also.

Fabulous small portable Hard Drive. Holds 2TB of memory and requires no set up. Just take your folders and drag them to this hard drive and they are safe. (Using with an old MacBook Pro).

Used for backup for iMac using OSX 10.9. Quick install. Placed Passport on aluminum stand, which appears to act as a heat sink. Runs cool and quiet. So far so good!

Great drive. I use it to back up video files. Great value for the 4TB and USB 3.0.

I haven’t usb 3.0 on my computer so I didn’t test it in high speed condition but I transfered a lot of data in one time and the transfert time wasn’t so bad. I appreciate the compact form, It’s really small for a 2TB! And it light too. I just regret that the wire isn’t integrate in the case like on some LaCie HDD (but the description on the product page is clear on this point 🙂 ).

My Passport for Mac? I can’t get the data of my old My Passport for Mac anymore and the new one works but transfers very slow. I suspect that the problem is they don’t make a cable for thunderbolt. Instead they send you an old USB cable with a USB to USB-c adapter. If it was really for modern Macs they’d have a thunderbolt cable.

It’s fast and it’s portable. It makes a lot of clicking, which is expected for a non-SSD. I use it to backup my Mac.

This external hdd is already pre format..very good..thanks

Both WD My Book Drives failed within days of each other after 14+ years of hard use. Purchased the Passport drives because they were on sale and to reduce the total footprint and tangled wires. They so far have proved as reliable as the My Book Drives, after a month of hard use. Strongly recommend the purchase of these drives
