The WD 5TB My Passport for Mac USB 3.0 External Hard Drive is a compact, portable drive designed to work right out of the box with Mac systems running macOS 10.13 and later. It comes with both USB Type-A and USB Type-C cables, so it’s compatible with both current and older systems. As a bus-powered drive, no external power sources are required. For protection, it has built-in 256-bit AES encryption and password protection. Users can also download the WD Discovery and WD Drive Utilities software to help manage their data and drive.

These Western Digital hard drives work really well. My hard drive came with a faulty cable however I reached out to B&H Customer Service and they quickly sent me a replacement cable at no charge. I would buy the same hard drive again.

My new computer has an internal 256GB SSD drive and that does not have enough space to hold all the Photos I take of Seniors, weddings, landscape, etc.. So, I looked and found this 5TB drive to have the space I need for my photo storage. Works great and does not require external power. Also, the small size makes it great to carry in my laptop bag.

This little jewel is about the size of a large cell phone. All I had to do was plug it in to my iMac and it started downloading the files. Took about an hour and a half. It comes with the necessary adapter so I had nothing else to buy. For the price I don’t think you can beat it.

This review is for WD 2T My Passport for Mac. I have been a long time Macbook Pro user and this portable external hard drive is extremely great for backing up all the important files in my laptop. I do most of my work using my Macbook so this is important to me incase something happens to my computer. It works great with Time machine. It is easy to use like any external hard drive. I like that my files are safe in this hard drive because it is encrypted and secured with password protection. This external hard drive is well built. It is portable so I can easily take it anywhere with me. Great product and must have for backing up important datas.

The compact design provides for easy portability of a whopping 5TB in the package. I have two of these drives and alternate them as part of my streaming host. This allows me to load up new material on the “offline” drive, disconnect the “online” drive and sync their contents far quicker than it would take to load offline content to the “online” drive.
