WD Passport portable drive that provides plenty of space for file backups. Longer warranty than the Elements series.

This external drive worked right out of the box on my new iMac. Just plugged it into the back of the computer with the cord supplied. Set up Time Machine. Very small and less obtrusive than my old iomega. No problems with it so far.
Hugh Wilkinson (verified owner) –
Works well, made well and has built-in encryptation.

Works well. Plug and play with no issues.

Purchased this for use as an offsite backup. Copy speed is not that fast but it is enough for the task.
Ellen Legros (verified owner) –
The drive is plug and play for basic utility. Worked immediately backing up my files and integrating with time machine. It was relatively fast compared to my G Drive that was only USB 2.0 compatible. Directions are non-existent if you want to do some advanced programs like partitioning. Need to go to web for those details. It meets my basic needs flawlessly and is good value at that.

Can’t believe such a tiny thing can store so much! And I really appreciate the connectors to both USB 2 and Type C.

I purchased this for use as a backup with an Intel NUC that I’m using as a web-server. The web-server has 4tb of storage, so I have Windows set to backup the contents of the web-server onto this drive. It’s working great!

I can’t figure out how to operate this and it was sent with no instructions. Please help in this regard?

Great addition to my Mac mini as a back up device. It has a USB 3.0 interface and appears to be sufficient for what I’m using it for

I have several WB 4TB Passport USB External Hard drives and they are easy to use, perfect for backing up photos, music or anything else. Perfect size if you want to travel with them and in general do not take up a lot of space. The transfer speed is also good. I wanted the red one to separate its use from others I have and it’s a nice red.

I’ve most always used My Passport for backing up my photos. You plug it in, it’s ready to run, and unless you drop it really hard it’s going to keep on humming, even years later when you need to find that old image.
Carson Morissette (verified owner) –
Using the Mac Disk Utility, I was able to easily create both a Mac and a Windows partition to back-up raw footage and other video files. I always trust Western Digital and this product will probably not let me down either. It’s sleek, quiet, and extremely fast with the USB 3.0. Would definitely recommend to anyone!

As a photographer I need reliable external drives to store my photos. I have used WD drives for years and find them reliable and easy to step. I purchased two drives – one primary and one for backup. I was not disappointed and would recommend them to anyone needing an external drive.

This hard drive connected to my IMac (Catalina) without a hitch. It has been performing flawlessly as a Time Machine backup ever since.
