Built with the power to handle small- to medium-sized business NAS environments and increased workloads to SoHo (Small Office and Home Office) customers, the 2TB Red Plus 5400 rpm SATA III 3.5″ Internal NAS HDD from WD is made for archiving and sharing, as well as RAID array rebuilding on systems using ZFS and other file systems in NAS arrays with 1-8 bays. This 2TB drive operates using a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface, a 64MB cache, and a rotational speed of 5400 rpm, all of which help to ensure uninterrupted data transfers with a sustained rate of up to 147 MB/s. This drive also features high levels of reliability, with 600,000 load/unload cycles, <1 in 1014 non-recoverable read errors per bits read, error recovery controls, and 1 million hours MTBF. Also built into this drive are noise and vibration protection and WD’s NASware 3.0 helps increase system compatibility, allowing WD Red Plus drives to be more easily integrated with your existing network infrastructure.

Nice fast drives. WD reliability as usual. I am using these as archival drives for video and disk images.
Heidi Mills (verified owner) –
Does as advertised, and it hasn’t failed on me yet (2 weeks). I’ll update the review if/when it does!
Josh Beatty (verified owner) –
Arrived quickly and was easy to set up. Difficult to rate as one never knows when a HD will fail so after a couple of years I will have more knowledge as to the durability. Needed more image storage and this HD was a very good price / GB
Demetris Cartwright (verified owner) –
Nice drive. Works well and reasonably quiet. Using them in DS1522+ NAS. Recommended.
Kevon Schinner (verified owner) –
Faultless installation in mirrored raid configuration in QNAP 2 bay NAS.
Marvin Treutel (verified owner) –
Running a pair of these in a Synology DS720+, and they’re great: quiet, fast enough for my needs, and I am hopeful they last for a long time.

On a holiday project to update archives of my enormous digital photo library, I bought a WD 6TB Red Plus and WD Black 6TB at BHPhoto. Each is mounted in a Novus enclosure. The Red Plus performs absolutely silently and like a rocket ship, markedly faster than the WD Black drive. Both drives are excellent quality in my opinion.

Got 3 of these drives brand new, sold by B&H (not a third party). When I cam to register them for the warranty, was told they are not eligible for warranty, even though B&H website description for this item ways it is. B&H resolution is for me to call WD and sort this out…. I can see hours of wasted time in my future on this.
