I have not yet tried the WD My Book automatic backup feature but is on my lists of things to do. That is the reason I purchased it.

This seems to be working well, as far as I can tell. It was easy to set up and seems to have retrieval for files as well as restore for the backed-up disk. It was easy to set up and easier to understand than most that I have used.

I have used WD USB drives for years. This 6TB drive works just like all the others. My only disappointment was that this drive has no green LED to show when data is being transferred. All my other 3TB and 4TB drives have this light ?

Western Digital has always made a superior product than all others including Seagate. Better warranty, support, speed, reliability and overall quality.

Unlike the essentials model, this one has a much better enclosure, more solid and will look better for longer. The things this one didn’t have is a power button and a light indicator. Both of those are pretty pointless. Both of them start with a smart spin up time value in the 90s and keep reducing everytime you turn it on until the lower 80s, can be concerning but looks to be expected.

After scouring the internet for an affordable backup solution, I settled on two 8TB My Books. No issues with formatting the drives and the initial data transfer. Packages came earlier than expected and in perfect condition.

Don’t know why, other than causing the filling of drives, Seagate saves every draft of a file. the WD backup scheme is much more rational.

It is nice having this large capacity drive as my main backup.

My old storage drive had 2 TB and was deteriorating so I opted for this 4TB, which comes with Acronis software, which you download from the WD website. A reasonable price for the drive and it was an easy download and install the software.

I am a professional photographer and use external hard drives for backing up photos and this one will back up my back up. I have 3 that no longer work.

I understand the exact mb you get out of HD is not exactly what they label it, but when you buy 12TB, you expect at least 11TB. But 10.2 TB? WD hard drives are excellent, and I still have 25mb WD Cavaliar from 80s, running still good, but I must say, I was disappointed with this one.

I bought two of these. One for general backup for my iMac and other file storage. The other for backup storage for images. It was easy to set up, even on the Mac, and functions as described. I transferred many files and transfer was smooth and fast.

The hard drive solved my space problem. But since its a new purchase, de never know for how long will be functional. Lets wait and see.

I have owned three of these drives. All three have failed. It also encrypts your data so if you are able to pull the drive out of the case to try and salvage your files they are all encrypted and you’re screwed.
