I could not even return to B&H because i did not open my package until after x mas feb 14!
Emiliano Ryan (verified owner) –
After 5 months of use on a UPS, drive unmounted unexpectedly and would not remount Changed enclosures, ports with no success.
Zetta Veum (verified owner) –
I installed one as my primary desktop drive and purchased a second to use to clone the primary for a backup. Relying on the 2 million hour MTBF.
Pierre Johns (verified owner) –
After the exchange (waiting for weeks – return and waiting for reship), everything working as intended.
Stan Pollich (verified owner) –
It’s working as good as it shows… satisfied…

Very nice HDD , less heat, less noise that WD Gold, great value to back your files

Great and it’s work good. Somewhere in Africa (Ghana)

These are much quieter then the WD Black HDD.

I bought these drives to replace WD Red Pro 3TB tjst are starting to age out in my two synced NAS boxes ( Synology DS415+ that I love). Have only had to install two in the last weeks and they came up right away after full surface checks. They run quietly, but that’s an individual perception.

Use these in a Synology DS1817 NAS box They have been running 24/7 for over a year with no issues. Judging from other reviews these are some of the most reliable drives you can purchase and really well priced at B&H

I bought these to replace 6 year old Western Digital Reds and ended up deciding to buy another Synology NAS to minimize worry about hardware failure. I demoted the old NAS to an occasional backup that would be turned off most of the time (one 3 tb Red just recently failed at 50K hours). That sets up an easy and unfortunately compelling comparison: these drives are much noisier than the virtually silent Reds in the old NAS. The reason I bought these drives is that around the net Red reviews vary substantially. These, of course, aren’t reviewed much yet. Fingers crossed and somewhat remorseful.

I do music, video and photography. I ordered a pair of these Ultrastar 12TB drives to replace a pair of Seagate 4TB drives that were full. Installation was painless. Configured to RAID1, copied data from old drives using Windows Explorer. Everything running great. At my current data usage, I expect to use these for the next 3-4 years. I found this page at the HGST web site. I was able to check the warranty status of new drives by entering serial #. It appears you don’t have to register the drives. Just keep your receipt for a potential warranty claim. I do this for business reasons anyway. Hope this helps. https://www2.hgst.com/portal/site/en/support/warranty/

Outstanding! Glad I purchased it

This is packaged for retail sale. However, inside is a standard latest-release DC HC510 drive, with He10 Helium technology. Comes with full five year factory warranty (easily checked by testing the S/N at hgst.com/portal/site/en/support/warranty/ ) These are the highest-performance, lowest power, most reliable HDD’s out there.

The WD Ultrastar Data Center rated drives are heavy. You can feel the quality. If you’re debating between a Data Center drive and a less expensive one, consider how important your data is, and the cost of failure. These drives are built to last.
Raegan Pagac (verified owner) –
Good value for price. Use it for large back up’s in NAS system.
Johnathan Hegmann (verified owner) –
The MTBF is even longer on these models. Prefer the enterprise grade drives even for personal data. Performance is stellar.
Willard Dooley (verified owner) –
ONLY buy enterprise class hard drives, they cost more but are worth it. Never seen one fail yet… Too bad SATA 3 is still the connection option, for these massive drives, it takes a loooonnggg time to transfer a lot of data.
Ryan Greenholt (verified owner) –
Ordered two 12 TB disks at a good price and delivered them right away. Nice job!
Kiley Bosco (verified owner) –
Drive is quiet and efficient.
