Expand the storage on your Windows system and back up photos, video, music, and documents using the silver 1TB My Passport Ultra USB 3.0 Type-C External Hard Drive from WD. This drive is equipped with 1TB of storage and a USB 3.0 Type-C interface. If your computer doesn’t have a USB Type-C port, an included USB Type-C to Type-A adapter helps ensure compatibility with older systems. This drive is also bus-powered, meaning that all its power is provided by the USB cable and no external power cables or adapters are required.
Since WD designed this My Passport Ultra drive for Windows, it comes preformatted NTFS for Windows 10, 8.1, and 7. If you happen to work across both Windows and Mac platforms, WD provides a downloadable NTFS driver for macOS, which enables the reading and writing of this My Passport Ultra drive without any reformatting. Or, make it fully Mac compatible with a simple reformat. Thanks to a 256-bit AES hardware encryption chip, your private files are kept more secure.

The Western Digital My Passport is a good, reliable portable hard drive. We’ve had a lot of success with these at work where they’re not always treated with extreme care.

Great portable drive works with Apple’s Time Machine software but you have to reformat the drive for their filesystem. The white model cost $ more than the other colors apparently because Mac owners who buy this all want the white version. You can save $ by just buying another color.

You can rarely go wrong with a Western Digital. I have had alot of success with the 1TBs and I am sure that this 1.5TB will be just as good!

Bought this for video and picture storage. Expect as good as service as with 3 other portables by WD that I own.

WD is always my preferred drives. It never disappoints me. I bought this 2TB My Passport Ultra for daily backup. It works great & zero failure rate! I’ve been using it for 7 months now. This is not my first WD portable / external HD. My very first WD external drive was bought in 2010. I have four WD drives before getting this one. I’m still using all of them for both my Mac machines and Windows laptop. I also had Seagate, Buffalo and Maxtor but all died before (sigh).

Hard Drive works great.

The external hard drive works as advertised on my Mac. I haven’t measured the data transfer speeds, but it felt pretty quick. My only complaint is that the cable supplied with the hard drive didn’t work. I tried plugging it in multiple ports but no luck. Luckily I had a USB C to USB C phone charger cable that came in handy.

Use HD to backup movies, personal files, and transport large work files. it is like a thumb drive on steroids. USB 3.0 is significantly faster than older USB 2.0 and WD includes the USB 3.0 cable which also works as the power cable. It is the size of a wallet, very portable. These portable HD’s take a pounding and the 3 year warranty is a plus. No complaints.

Use for my MacBook Air for backup and disk cloning with SuperDuper. I only reformatted (comes Windows formatted) to Mac and have fun.

Used to backup WD desktop external hard drives. Prior to the Passport I used a second desktop external drive for backup and had to buy a second fireproof safe. Now the Passport takes the place of those hard drives and utilizes a fraction of the safe space. And when I need to retrieve a file the single USB/power source is far more convenient. I can also run the passport without a conflict with the desktop drive.

I use the hard drive to backup my photos and music. I’ve purchased Western Digital external hard drives for years and have never had any issues. I like the small size and the password protection.
