This drive is equipped with 1TB of storage and a USB 3.0 Type-C interface. If your computer doesn’t have a USB Type-C port, an included USB Type-C to Type-A adapter helps ensure compatibility with older systems. This drive is also bus-powered, meaning that all its power is provided by the USB cable and no external power cables or adapters are required.
Since WD designed this My Passport Ultra drive for Windows, it comes preformatted NTFS for Windows 10, 8.1, and 7. If you happen to work across both Windows and Mac platforms, WD provides a downloadable NTFS driver for macOS, which enables the reading and writing of this My Passport Ultra drive without any reformatting. Or, make it fully Mac compatible with a simple reformat. Thanks to a 256-bit AES hardware encryption chip, your private files are kept more secure.

3tb in a compact package without a plug in power supply. Unit is silent, stay’s cool, and works well. I’m using it attached to a USB 2 connection and it probably runs as fast as can be expected. I’m surt that it would be much faster connected through a USB 3 connection. I’m using it to back up photo files, so speed isn’t really a consideration for me. So far no problems.

Finally have a portable drive with enough capacity to back up all my images and files. Just wish it had the USB 3.1/Thunderbolt interface (vs. its USB 3.0) so the backup would be quicker.

This was by far the least expensive per GB. Very easy to set up and use. The only reason for 4 stars (instead of 5) is that the software installs 3 separate programs instead of one: (1) security; (2) settings; (3) backup.

I’m using this on an old, and HEAVY HP 17.3 laptop. Needless to say, anything that;s added to the laptop bag takes up a lot of room and adds weight to the laptop bag. This drive is small and lightweight. Performance-wise, it’s pretty fast. Sometimes, cloning (with Acronis) can take a long time, especially since my drive is about 3/4 full. I would definitely buy this again AND I probably will, to backup my desktop at home.
