Expand the storage on your Windows system and back up photos, video, music, and documents using the silver 1TB My Passport Ultra USB 3.0 Type-C External Hard Drive from WD. This drive is equipped with 1TB of storage and a USB 3.0 Type-C interface. If your computer doesn’t have a USB Type-C port, an included USB Type-C to Type-A adapter helps ensure compatibility with older systems. This drive is also bus-powered, meaning that all its power is provided by the USB cable and no external power cables or adapters are required.
Since WD designed this My Passport Ultra drive for Windows, it comes preformatted NTFS for Windows 10, 8.1, and 7. If you happen to work across both Windows and Mac platforms, WD provides a downloadable NTFS driver for macOS, which enables the reading and writing of this My Passport Ultra drive without any reformatting. Or, make it fully Mac compatible with a simple reformat. Thanks to a 256-bit AES hardware encryption chip, your private files are kept more secure.

This was a really easy way to plug in and back up my major drives. Great price, great customer service as always. This is my third or fourth my passport drive and I have loved every one. Small, easy to use, stays cool, packs a punch.

This portable hard drive is very versatile and portable. I’m using this drive to backup my documents . Originally I was using an external drive and a port for my backups, however, that’s extra wires and setup that I have to deal with. With the WD passport, I can easily just plug in and do what I need. The only issue is that it takes maybe 30 secs to a minute for the computer to recognize the drive. I also own an older version of the 1TB WD passport and that took way less time for the computer to recognize. This newer WD 1TB drive is also a bit slimmer compared to the older one.

This WD HD is very very good. It’s quick (USB 3), secure, and small.

Use them as backup device. I make copy of my data to disk every month. Good price. So final price to store backups is low.

I use this hard drive to back up files and it works very efficiently. It’s easy to set up and it’s small size makes it easy to transport as well as not taking up much space on my table. It’s well built, not flimsy and transports easily. There is nothing about this product that I would consider a drawback and would highly recommend it.

Seagate drives are slimmer, nicer looking and work just as well. I really wanted to get the Seagate – I travel often with many drives and the slim factor is big advantage. But I love the hardware encryption feature in the WD drives. I use it for Photo Editing (with Lightroom) via the USB 3.0 interface and it seems to work fine thus far.

The drive is silent and easily formated for my Xbox 360 Elite. The usb cable has one special WD end and is quite short. You have to use an extension cable, since a standard one won’t work, if you want it further than a foot from where it’s plugged in. The cable has to be plugged into the two right-hand usb ports on the Xbox because it’s too fat for the ones on the left side. The blue light blinks constantly, whether the drive is working or on standby – really stupid and irritating. Because of the proprietary cable and blinking light I give it four stars. It shipped fast and was well packaged.

I bought WD drive 2 years ago and used rarely. I have tried to access my data today but failed. I have lost all of my dat and drive is not working anymore.

I filled almost the entire drive without mishap, about 3.5TB of data. Ran warm (not hot to touch), no noise. No problems. I have 8 x 2TB My Passport Ultra drives with no problems. I expect this 4TB drive to be have no problems as well. That said, while transferring data, it seemed slower than previous 2TB My Passport Ultra drives, so I did a very informal copying test. 2TB My Passport Ultra (older drive): Ext HD to internal HD: 100MB/s (read speed) internal HD to Ext HD: 60MB/s (write speed) 4TB My Passport Ultra (drive I just bought): Ext HD to internal HD: 70MB/s (read speed) internal HD to Ext HD: 37MB/s (write speed) So, while the 4TB drive is still plenty fast, it is significantly slower than the 2TB drive. If storage capacity and reliability are top priorities, it’s a good unit for the price. If you’re counting on the speed, then the 2TB drive is a clear winner.

Using this to back up video during location production. Heavier than I expected. Non deluxe enclosure, but who cares?

Only a 4 because I haven’t used it extensively yet, but wow, very impressed with the size and convenience, and obviously that it has SO much space! Purchased to back up all my photographs, holds my extensive collection with space to spare.

Have 3 of these exact models. They are great for portability. They stack easy enough using rubber circular feet. They sync amazingly quickly. It is about 6 hours for a copy of about 75% used space.

WD drives have been very dependable for me. I have at least 5 currently, but as prices have dropped and drive sizes have grown over the years, the 2T drives are perfect for backing up 12+ years of photos and files. In addition to my TimeMachine Backup, I now own two WD soldiers 2T drives, duplicating my backup. One drive is kept at home, the other off site. I’m finally organized with backing up my important data thanks to these two 2T portable WD drives. My WD drives have provide for me peace of mind at a reasonable price with my important data and images.

As for the products performance, it works just fine. I was a little disappointed though when the product was bigger than i expected when it arrived. In the picture they are actually showing the 1TB model, the 2TB is actually twice the height. So, beware, if you are looking for a tiny drive, you will prob. be in for a shock when it arrives. Also, from the picture, it appears to be made with a metal outer shell, but it’s just plastic colored to look metal. The name titanium was misleading. I’m sure this is a great product functionally, but i was really hoping for a super small heavy duty drive, and it turned out to not be what i had hoped for.

Arrived packed well and performed as expected. Software acceptable. Was not disappointed in performance or quality. Only draw back was unit had less than 4 TB. (3.5 TB) The 1 TB passport I am is full, so I got this for additional back-up. Would not purchase any other brand. Would have given 5 stars if storage was 4 TB.

I own 4 WD USB hard drives and they are all excellent and have been ultra reliable. This Titanium is by far the smallest, and it is USB 3.0. A great value for portable storage.
