Expand the storage on your Windows system and back up photos, video, music, and documents using the silver 1TB My Passport Ultra USB 3.0 Type-C External Hard Drive from WD. This drive is equipped with 1TB of storage and a USB 3.0 Type-C interface. If your computer doesn’t have a USB Type-C port, an included USB Type-C to Type-A adapter helps ensure compatibility with older systems. This drive is also bus-powered, meaning that all its power is provided by the USB cable and no external power cables or adapters are required.
Since WD designed this My Passport Ultra drive for Windows, it comes preformatted NTFS for Windows 10, 8.1, and 7. If you happen to work across both Windows and Mac platforms, WD provides a downloadable NTFS driver for macOS, which enables the reading and writing of this My Passport Ultra drive without any reformatting. Or, make it fully Mac compatible with a simple reformat. Thanks to a 256-bit AES hardware encryption chip, your private files are kept more secure.

Had some bad experiences with WD drives in the past. Many of their early USB-2 portable drives had a chip set that was slower than snot, often less than half the speed of my other USB-2 drives. These, however, are as fast as any other USB-3 2.5 inch drives we have, are really solid and small. We use these as archive drives for our Apple Time Capsule Backups.

I like this drive, as it is very small and holds 2 terabytes of material for a very affordable price. I have taken it on film shoots and it is very easy to pack. The drawback I have seen so far is that, because of its small size, it has only one port, a small USB3. More ports always mean more flexibility. So far I have had no problems and would recommend it.

It’s great to get the right answer for your question! Like- How can I easily backup my system? Here’s the Right Answer . . . super easy, user friendly! It works! Recommended! Remember, there are only two kinds of people in the world . 1) those who’ve lost data, and 2) those who are going to lose data!

Apart from additional configuration for Mac OS (not unexpected) the drive is satisfactory. It is a conventional hard drive and not a solid-state drive (SSD). Therefor, it is much larger than a Seagate 2TB drive that I have.

I’ve never had one of their drives go bad, but the software user manual reads like a text for geeks. I’ve always had a futile time understanding it. I usually just blunder ahead and hope I’m doing it right.

I own two of these. I prefer Seagate because they are slimmer but these work well enough. I use them for backups. They are reliable but not exceptionally fast. They run hot and loud.

Mainly use for backing up data from differnt PC’s at work and home. Have it for a week now and seems to be working well.Had to download the latest firm ware and other software from WD website.

Only slightly bothered that this drive is 2017 model because it passed WD drive tests and seems to be working properly. The software that comes on the drive is also 2017, which is not current. Downloaded more current software from WD website. Like the password security feature. My previous Passport came with a nice cloth bag for storage; this one did not. Bottom line… good value for $45.

Came earlier than expected and ber easy to use without have to read any manual. I would not use the program Pre-installed on the drive though. This is my new favorite electronics site!!!

This is a back up for My Documents instead of using the cloud. The WD software is easy to use and easy to set up on multiple drives. Even my Seagate drives back up with WD and I like this better than Seagates back up software.

Several years ago I bought two of these drives and they’ve been solid backup for my Mac. I like them so much I bought 4 for my back up materials and archives. I like that the come in several colors so I can quickly tell which drive is which.

On top of its good looks and small size, it just sits quietly doing its job.
