Expand the storage on your Windows system and back up photos, video, music, and documents using the silver 2TB My Passport Ultra USB 3.0 Type-C External Hard Drive from WD. This drive is equipped with 2TB of storage and a USB 3.0 Type-C interface. If your computer doesn’t have a USB Type-C port, an included USB Type-C to Type-A adapter helps ensure compatibility with older systems. This drive is also bus-powered, meaning that all its power is provided by the USB cable and no external power cables or adapters are required.
Since WD designed this My Passport Ultra drive for Windows, it comes preformatted NTFS for Windows 10, 8.1, and 7. If you happen to work across both Windows and Mac platforms, WD provides a downloadable NTFS driver for macOS, which enables the reading and writing of this My Passport Ultra drive without any reformatting. Or, make it fully Mac compatible with a simple reformat. Thanks to a 256-bit AES hardware encryption chip, your private files are kept more secure.

This is a lot of storage in a very compact package. I don’t use the software that comes with it. It works fine by just plugging it in. I love that there is no power cord and brick with it.My only complaint is that it is advertised as 2 TB but only 1.8 TB is actually accessible. This is standard practice, but I would like to see some truth in advertising.

This works fine with my Mac. This particular one I’m using to back up financial records. I have another this size for photos & videos and a larger one I use for Time Machine backups. They do fail over time and so I’ve learned that buyer the cheaper ones with less storage makes sense since they’ll likely have to be replaced and I’ve usually not filled them by then. Keep multiple backups!

I work between an office and my home and need an easy way to transport large files. I use a 1TB drive for work and bought a 2TB drive for myself. This has done the trick and is very easy to use. I did need to reformat the drive for a Mac which is also easy to do. I just looked up the directions on line and it took about a minute.

Several years ago I bought two of these drives and they’ve been solid backup for my Mac. I like them so much I bought 4 for my back up materials and archives. I like that the come in several colors so I can quickly tell which drive is which.

I have had many WD hard drives and haven’t had a failure yet. Great size for packing and it has many storage options. I know how tough these drives are since my wife dropped it several times from about 2 feet on to cement. Still working.
