Expand the storage on your Windows system and back up photos, video, music, and documents using the silver 2TB My Passport Ultra USB 3.0 Type-C External Hard Drive from WD. This drive is equipped with 2TB of storage and a USB 3.0 Type-C interface. If your computer doesn’t have a USB Type-C port, an included USB Type-C to Type-A adapter helps ensure compatibility with older systems. This drive is also bus-powered, meaning that all its power is provided by the USB cable and no external power cables or adapters are required.
Since WD designed this My Passport Ultra drive for Windows, it comes preformatted NTFS for Windows 10, 8.1, and 7. If you happen to work across both Windows and Mac platforms, WD provides a downloadable NTFS driver for macOS, which enables the reading and writing of this My Passport Ultra drive without any reformatting. Or, make it fully Mac compatible with a simple reformat. Thanks to a 256-bit AES hardware encryption chip, your private files are kept more secure.

Failed in less than a year. I was using it for Time Machine and the disk no longer mounts. Fail in running first aid and erase. Waste of money.

These WD drives are a goof buy! This is my third and I’m very happy with them! Anyone who doesn’t back-up their stuff is going to pay for it eventually!!!!!

Well, this was a disappointment. Worked great right out of the box and thanks to the speed of the USB 3.0, it copied over about 30gb in about 20 minutes. However, the next time I plugged it in, it wasn’t responding. Tried plugging it in to different computers and tried a different cable. Neither worked. Thankfully the drive was supposed to be a backup of a backup. So I didn’t lose the data completely. Anyway, I won’t be replacing it with another one. I can’t trust it at this point.

I am doing a family history with a lot of graphics, photo and videos. I bought 3 of these drives – one for each of our daughter. The size – both physical and and capacity – is just what I need. Enjoy dealing with B&H as they are prompt and provide good value

This is the second one that I have bought. They fit nicely in my briefcase with my laptop. Very light and easy to work with.

Had some bad experiences with WD drives in the past. Many of their early USB-2 portable drives had a chip set that was slower than snot, often less than half the speed of my other USB-2 drives. These, however, are as fast as any other USB-3 2.5 inch drives we have, are really solid and small. We use these as archive drives for our Apple Time Capsule Backups.

The drive is very fast (usb 3.0) and B&H had a great price, no tax or shipping. The best price of anywhere online.

I own multiple of these drives and use them for video editing. They aren’t the fastest drives in the world but serve their purpose well. I will continue buying these until I find a better value. The wires have a tendency to go bad which makes you think the drive is failing but if you switch a different USB cable it seems to be fine.

I use my external hard drives to back up files, particularly photos.. I already own several of these Western Digital drives and am very satisfied with their performance. Since I use both pcs and macs, I reformat my drives using exFAT. I always purchase my electronics from B&H because they deliver the items quickly and are also responsive to my questions.

The hard drive works great, formatted it when I got it and it’s been running perfectly. It’s not a big deal, but it’s a little thicker than it looks on the product images (just a heads up)

Easy set up and everything worked perfectly. I have a Mac so all I needed to do was reformat it and I was good to go. Transfer speeds were super fast. And it’s perfect for travel.

Drive is quiet and compact. At first I couldn’t get it to work on my Mac but after using the Western Digital format utility that came with the drive, my Mac was able to write to it

This Western Digital 1 TB passport backup drive is great. Pulled it out of the box and was backing up my data within15 minutes. A great drive at a cheap price.

I love WD backup drives and have 5 of them but the new backup software is garbage. The Smartware that WD once used was spot on and easy to use but not so for the new WD Backup software. It is not intuitive and is difficult to understand. To top it off the software is extremely slow and makes me think that the software is not responding properly. When I call for support I am directed to India and have a difficult time understanding the individual. Although the tech is very nice I can tell that he is just as frustrated as I because I don’t understand him. Sorry to say that the backup software makes me want to turn to another product line.

I like the fact that now I have external drives, each working alternately to keep my desktop info safe.
