Expand the storage on your Windows system and back up photos, video, music, and documents using the silver 2TB My Passport Ultra USB 3.0 Type-C External Hard Drive from WD. This drive is equipped with 2TB of storage and a USB 3.0 Type-C interface. If your computer doesn’t have a USB Type-C port, an included USB Type-C to Type-A adapter helps ensure compatibility with older systems. This drive is also bus-powered, meaning that all its power is provided by the USB cable and no external power cables or adapters are required.
Since WD designed this My Passport Ultra drive for Windows, it comes preformatted NTFS for Windows 10, 8.1, and 7. If you happen to work across both Windows and Mac platforms, WD provides a downloadable NTFS driver for macOS, which enables the reading and writing of this My Passport Ultra drive without any reformatting. Or, make it fully Mac compatible with a simple reformat. Thanks to a 256-bit AES hardware encryption chip, your private files are kept more secure.

I bought the WD Passport to replace my old Seagate external hard drive and I’m very happy with my purchase. It plug’s into a USB 3.0 port (also draws power from the USB port) and sit’s on top of my Desk top CPU unit. I configured my backups using the WD software and also Windows 10 backup and I don’t even think about backing up any more. It does it all for me and works in the background. Couldn’t ask for a better External Hard Drive. If your thinking about buying one, just do it. I highly recommend this product.

Got this during Thanksgiving deals, for the price I paid it’s great! Feels sturdier than other portable HDD’s out there, especially once it’s in a case! Time will tell whether it’s any good, but so far it’s great.

WD is churning these out with great abandon and poor quality control. I used this with a desktop, so it was barely ever moved.

This is a good value portable external drive that has a lots of storage space. I’m happy with it’s performance, and I own now about 5 WD ex drives and 4 of those are these portables that are USB 3.0 and simple and easy to use. I have 2 that are specifically for a Mac (just means there’s software that comes with it for Mac security and utilities) and all of them have worked well. That’s why, I went with WD Passport again. I use this drive with a Macbook Air mainly and have it partitioned into 3 drives. One for photo library for Lightroom and another for videos & projects and the last, largest partition for all the stuff I always wanted to have with me all on one drive. My backup drives are not on this HD. I haven’t had any problems so far – but I don’t do heavy video work with this ‘light’ setup – obviously – but it works well. I’m not sure how this drive is actually divided inside the case – I’m guessing there are 2 x 2TB drives inside the enclosure. For that reason, I divided the drive into partitions in those multiples. I would like to see – if possible – for these small portable drives to have two USB 3.0 connections for pass-through connectivity so I could daisy-chain a few of drives. That would be ideal. I have to use a hub for that. My rating is 4 1/2 stars – for value, reliability and storage space and no required additional AC power. Build quality for case is plastic, not fast internal drives, just one connectivity, USB 3.0 so I take off a 1/2 star.

This is a back up for My Documents instead of using the cloud. The WD software is easy to use and easy to set up on multiple drives. Even my Seagate drives back up with WD and I like this better than Seagates back up software.

Not a SSD, but for the price and capacity it is excellent. Download speed is not that bad and works very well as an Time Machine for my Mac Mini. Good product, good pricing from B&H, I would recommend without hesitation.

Plug and play… worked correctly out-of-the-box. 2Tb storage allows for multiple full system images as well as large data backups.

Great drive for quick back-ups. I keep it in my bag to always have it on-hand. Upon arrival, I reformatted to ExFAT (on my Mac)so it will read/write on a Mac and PC. The only limitation is the PC has a 2GB file limit.

The 1.5 TB version is great capacity yet small enough to take in the field. I highly recommend.

Have had this for a couple of years now. Seems to work fine. Plug and play. Have used with Vista and Windows7. Mostly use it for backing up data, and transferring files between computers. I have only used it a few times each year.

A very good inexpensive method to store and access data both at home and on the road. I have purchased several of these drives and all have worked well. Easy to reformat for use on a MAC.
