Expand the storage on your Windows system and back up photos, video, music, and documents using the silver 2TB My Passport Ultra USB 3.0 Type-C External Hard Drive from WD. This drive is equipped with 2TB of storage and a USB 3.0 Type-C interface. If your computer doesn’t have a USB Type-C port, an included USB Type-C to Type-A adapter helps ensure compatibility with older systems. This drive is also bus-powered, meaning that all its power is provided by the USB cable and no external power cables or adapters are required.
Since WD designed this My Passport Ultra drive for Windows, it comes preformatted NTFS for Windows 10, 8.1, and 7. If you happen to work across both Windows and Mac platforms, WD provides a downloadable NTFS driver for macOS, which enables the reading and writing of this My Passport Ultra drive without any reformatting. Or, make it fully Mac compatible with a simple reformat. Thanks to a 256-bit AES hardware encryption chip, your private files are kept more secure.

This device is pretty easy to use once you understand the software and how it works — I’ve a fairly decent basic technical knowledge and I had a little trouble, but now all is great thanks to the amazing technical assistance at B&H!

I was looking for an extra storage drive to place my photos and I found this baby, portable, light, and great for when I travel to do my photo shoots, I hope to purchase another in the near future.

I like this drive a lot…That said after buying two this month for my new MacBook Pro 2018, 13, the connection cable doesnt seem tight. If I so much as type and the Mac even barely moves, and I mean barely, the connection becomes loose and I get an error message…Its all new…I think the connection should be secure. I will call B & H after the holiday.

I tried to use this HD to extend the capacity of my laptop’s HD. Unfortunately, this drive is incompatible with later OS X versions I had Yosemite and upgraded to El Capitan in hopes that an upgrade would resolve issues) Searches online showed that Windows systems are also affected (Search for WD Passport ultra not mounting or wd passport ultra not recognized) I had an old OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) floating around and it was able to read the disk. I tried formatting the WD drive for Mac and try again in later OS, but it still wouldn’t work. Had to return it. Also, by using this drive you agree to binding arbitration, which severely limits your ability to seek redress for any issues that might arise. That was a definite put-off for me, and the incompatibility issue sealed it for me. Got a Seagate, and it works like a charm.

This is one of those purchases that needs years before you determine it’s value to you. I had a previous WD External hard drive that dropped dead in two years so I realize I need 2 back ups. But for the present..it was easy to get set up, back up went smooth and does it’s daily back up on time.

Hello, Got this to backup a 2TB drive on my desktop. It is USB 3.0. I did a one time back up of 1.4TB. Was on a USB 3 port, ran at anywhere from 3 to 5 GB/ min. Use to be 25 gb, 25 min. Not with this, it flew. Nice size and feel to it. This is my second drive, my first one I carry with my laptop to have a complete set of home data. Never had one drop of trouble with either drive.

Classic WD build quality, beautiful finish, fast, USB 3.0, 2TB in a form factor the size of a pack of cigarettes. Who could ask for more?

Small, lightweight and lots of storage. Data storage has come a long way. I still remember paying 1 dollar per megabytes for a hard drive…lol. Buy one!!!

Awesome hard drive case. Like it even more than horizontal one.

Looks nice. Works as intended. Not packaged very well. Good bubble wrap but only on top side of box, not all around hard-drive package.

I use it for backing up my files on a daily basis. 2TB is just right for me. The write/read speed is fast since it’s USB3.0 ready. WD is always my first choice!

First off, I’m no computer expert. But I am an avid photographer. I’ve been wanting and needing a back-up for all the images I have stored on my desktop. After reading several reviews that listed many pros and few if any cons, I went with this one. Just as claimed by WD, it is super simple to set-up and use with the included software.
