Expand the storage on your Windows system and back up photos, video, music, and documents using the silver 4TB My Passport Ultra USB 3.0 Type-C External Hard Drive from WD. This drive is equipped with 4TB of storage and a USB 3.0 Type-C interface. If your computer doesn’t have a USB Type-C port, an included USB Type-C to Type-A adapter helps ensure compatibility with older systems. This drive is also bus-powered, meaning that all its power is provided by the USB cable and no external power cables or adapters are required.
Since WD designed this My Passport Ultra drive for Windows, it comes preformatted NTFS for Windows 10, 8.1, and 7. If you happen to work across both Windows and Mac platforms, WD provides a downloadable NTFS driver for macOS, which enables the reading and writing of this My Passport Ultra drive without any reformatting. Or, make it fully Mac compatible with a simple reformat. Thanks to a 256-bit AES hardware encryption chip, your private files are kept more secure.

I’ve had several WD hard drives over the years for various different uses and I’ve never had a problem. This 1.5tb drive is a little heavier than you might expect but not at all cumbersome. Perfect portability and great usage.

Not the fastest, but for the price it’s great. After I make proxies to edit 4k it runs smoothly. I like that the connection is USB-C.

Several years ago I bought two of these drives and they’ve been solid backup for my Mac. I like them so much I bought 4 for my back up materials and archives. I like that the come in several colors so I can quickly tell which drive is which.

I am using this Passport Ultra drive as a general media backup drive. The transfer speeds are very fast at USB3.0 but can function fine when plugged into a USB2.0 source. Optional password protection a plus.

If you want a backup that’s not on the Cloud, set it up with Time Machine and forget about it.

As an owner of several WD MyPassport drives over about five years, I can say this 3TB drive does not fall short from the convenience, speed and reliability I have come to expect in previous models. I have traveled far and wide carrying MyPassport devices, and find them lightweight, compact, and fairly durable. Never had a hitch. This model is the exact same thickness as it’s 2TB predecessor, and seems to me slightly quieter. I find no major difference in external materials and construction, although I do think the top panel feels a bit more solid to the tap of the finger.

I am a landscape photographer always looking for more file storage! I bought the WD 2TB Ultra for the road. It literally fits in the palm of my hand making it ideal for traveling. Comes formatted for Windows but the directions for Mac formatting are easy to follow and only takes a few minutes. It is bus powered eliminating a power cord. When connected to my MacBook Pro the USB 3 speed is excellent. I actually bought two as a package. The $$price for a pair is excellent. When working it doesn’t make a sound.

plugged in and installed the backup software from WD, selected folders to back up. only caveat is that the computer has to be on at the scheduled time of backups or else it will miss the backup. too bad the software does not wake up the pc.

$1600 later I had my data recovered, but I can’t say enough bad things about this drive.

A year ago I purchased a 1.5 TB model of this drive and it has been reliable from the start. Recently decided to acquire more space and this was the way to go. Trusty, quick, and reliable, as well as easy to travel with. I definitely plan to purchase another when the time will inevitably come.
