This drive is equipped with 4TB of storage and a USB 3.0 Type-C interface. If your computer doesn’t have a USB Type-C port, an included USB Type-C to Type-A adapter helps ensure compatibility with older systems. This drive is also bus-powered, meaning that all its power is provided by the USB cable and no external power cables or adapters are required.
Since WD designed this My Passport Ultra drive for Windows, it comes preformatted NTFS for Windows 10, 8.1, and 7. If you happen to work across both Windows and Mac platforms, WD provides a downloadable NTFS driver for macOS, which enables the reading and writing of this My Passport Ultra drive without any reformatting. Or, make it fully Mac compatible with a simple reformat. Thanks to a 256-bit AES hardware encryption chip, your private files are kept more secure.

So far I’m really liking the drive. The size is decently portable and it does have quite a bit of space. It’s a tad slow, but somewhat expected for a drive of this class. I used the backup software which seems to run smoothly enough, but only time will tell if it works. I hope this will last me for quite a few years.

I work between an office and my home and need an easy way to transport large files. I use a 1TB drive for work and bought a 2TB drive for myself. This has done the trick and is very easy to use. I did need to reformat the drive for a Mac which is also easy to do. I just looked up the directions on line and it took about a minute.

Right out of the box I have put over 1.1TB of backup data on it.The price per TB is good for this 1.5TB My Passport. I especially like the small size and the build quality. The shell is made of plastic, but the touch and feel both make me like this little portable drive (which holds big data!)I have an old WD My Passport (320GB) portable drive for 6 years, still running no problem. That gives me some confidence on buying this new one.

Very easy to install and the initial backup took about 20 minutes. The backup software is installed on the drive. The actual available storage is closer to 1.36 than 1.5 but so what. It’s still huge.
