Expand the storage on your Windows system and back up photos, video, music, and documents using the silver 4TB My Passport Ultra USB 3.0 Type-C External Hard Drive from WD. This drive is equipped with 4TB of storage and a USB 3.0 Type-C interface. If your computer doesn’t have a USB Type-C port, an included USB Type-C to Type-A adapter helps ensure compatibility with older systems. This drive is also bus-powered, meaning that all its power is provided by the USB cable and no external power cables or adapters are required.
Since WD designed this My Passport Ultra drive for Windows, it comes preformatted NTFS for Windows 10, 8.1, and 7. If you happen to work across both Windows and Mac platforms, WD provides a downloadable NTFS driver for macOS, which enables the reading and writing of this My Passport Ultra drive without any reformatting. Or, make it fully Mac compatible with a simple reformat. Thanks to a 256-bit AES hardware encryption chip, your private files are kept more secure.

I was able to transfer 2.5 TB in hours as opposed to a day or so. The processor on this is great and it connects to my home sharing devices with ease. As always B&H provides the fastest, most reliable service around.

Before I bought this I was considering the DBY8L0020BBK-NESN which was cheaper. However this is what I finally went for. It’s very fast, quiet and very compact. Also this one comes with a 3 year warranty instead of 2 years on the other one. Comes with online backup too.

I use this for backing up video shot on site. The only caveat was that I had to format it for my Macbook Pro before I could use it. Good product at good price.

Great compact HDD with lots of storage. Got myself two of these in 4TB to replace my old 1TB, 2TB chunky powered HDDs. A hell lot more portable and simpler without all the extra cables and weight. Transfer speed quite good between 80-100MB/sec on average over USB 3.0 – small files still a lot slower though but this is the same for all HDD. Really like the metal look which I feel helps with passive cooling.

After years of using huge Lacie’s, I can’t believe how tiny, light and cheep this is. I backup my laptop to this guy. The only thing I’m wondering is how much you can bat it around–because it’s so portable, it makes me think I can throw it in my bag, but HD’s are generally meant to be fragile. I also love that it doesn’t need a separate plug, just powers off my machine.

have dealt with B&H 30 years for pro equipment. would never deal with anybody else. I do not ever have a problem giving $ to B&H.

Ive always liked WD drives but ever since I changed over to Type-C the slightest movement with my computer makes the drive accidentally eject. Its not the WD drive itself, as my G-Tech drive is doing the same thing. I believe it is the Type-C cables that are not great.

Seems to be working fine.

My application is extremely simplistic. As an artist my wife takes thousands of photo’s and needs a safe place to store them in an orderly way. We’ve been using WD My Passports for years and needed to upgrade from a 250MB unit. This 1TB unit should be a great photo repository for several years to come. We use USB 2.0 but expect to upgrade at some point to USB 3.0

Very easy to use. Plug in the USB cable and copy your files to it. Or, use back software. It has already saved me from a virus that encrypted my hard drive.
