Expand the storage on your Windows system and back up photos, video, music, and documents using the silver 4TB My Passport Ultra USB 3.0 Type-C External Hard Drive from WD. This drive is equipped with 4TB of storage and a USB 3.0 Type-C interface. If your computer doesn’t have a USB Type-C port, an included USB Type-C to Type-A adapter helps ensure compatibility with older systems. This drive is also bus-powered, meaning that all its power is provided by the USB cable and no external power cables or adapters are required.
Since WD designed this My Passport Ultra drive for Windows, it comes preformatted NTFS for Windows 10, 8.1, and 7. If you happen to work across both Windows and Mac platforms, WD provides a downloadable NTFS driver for macOS, which enables the reading and writing of this My Passport Ultra drive without any reformatting. Or, make it fully Mac compatible with a simple reformat. Thanks to a 256-bit AES hardware encryption chip, your private files are kept more secure.

Hard Drive works great.

The old passports worked so well, this drive (after painstakingly being reformatted to work with a MAC) disconnects so easily to the point where you have to restart your computer. You also can eject the drive without a “force eject” that compromises the data. I regret purchasing this and would purchase the old style of passports, unfortunately B&H doesnt carry them anymore. Buyer beware.

I can’t believe that this product is so compact, it performs well and the write speeds are great.

This was my first hard drive in this smaller size and I like it a lot. It has worked well for a few weeks now, I added about 1TB of data to it to send to a friend and it gave no problems, didn’t get too warm, and was very quiet. Price was excellent too!

Bought to use as a Time Machine volume–so far working fine with no issues.

Great product great price, WD and B&H what a combo. Hard to find 500GB but that is all I needed and B&H always has the beast price. WD is the best EHD.

I just purchased a 2018 Macbook Pro and wanted an external hard drive for its Time Machine software. Came formatted for the Mac and worked without any drama or issues. The drive is boxes with a rather short USB type-C cable and a USB type-A dongle. C-cable fits tightly for a good connection. Ive used the dongle for some older Window devices without issue. Product was in-stock and arrived in a reasonable time. Im very satisfied with my purchase.

Great secure storage at a good price. USB powered so you do not need to worry about AC power drops.

Great portable drive works with Apple’s Time Machine software but you have to reformat the drive for their filesystem. The white model cost $ more than the other colors apparently because Mac owners who buy this all want the white version. You can save $ by just buying another color.

I bought this hard drive while it was on sale and got it for the same price as the 1 TB drive. I’ve used Western Digital before and new I’d like it better than other brands I’ve used in the past. It’s just what I needed to separate business from personal files.

No need to find a power outlet, hook everything up, only to find out the power outlet is just a foot to far away from the computer… Just one tiny cable! It is detachable from the drive, but in my opinion that wouldn’t even be necessary. Basically I’m saying I’m using this as one big fast USB stick.

As videographer, I like to use these for archival purposes. The file read/write time is sufficiently fast. It is small and light and very portable

It’s a no frills external hard drive. I was happy to find that it comes with a USB 3.0 cable (albeit a very short one) to facilitate fast transfers. It looks good, has a sleek form, is small enough to pocket, and runs near silent. My only complaint is the software that comes with it is limited and has a terrible, dated interface, and runs constantly in the background even if you don’t have backup enabled. It does, however, offer a handy feature where you can select a group of files to back up and it will continuously monitor them for changes and maintain a current backup in real time.Over all, 1TB with a small form factor for $ seems like a pretty good deal to me.

It appears to work as expected. However, it continually hums as though it is constantly searching and will not shut down or eject. I contacted WD and they suggested that there may be a conflict with my antivirus. Well, I have had many external Hard Drives and have never had a conflict with my antivirus in the past. So, what does that tell me?Not very happy with WD right now.

If you need portable, secure (encrypted) storage, buy this drive.

Although I have dual backup hard drives attached to my PC, I have often worried about catastrophic events such as fire, flood, zombie attack, etc. The 500gb is large enough for me to backup my important stuff and even using it with a USB2 connection, it’s fast enough for my needs.
