Expand the storage on your Windows system and back up photos, video, music, and documents using the silver 4TB My Passport Ultra USB 3.0 Type-C External Hard Drive from WD. This drive is equipped with 4TB of storage and a USB 3.0 Type-C interface. If your computer doesn’t have a USB Type-C port, an included USB Type-C to Type-A adapter helps ensure compatibility with older systems. This drive is also bus-powered, meaning that all its power is provided by the USB cable and no external power cables or adapters are required.
Since WD designed this My Passport Ultra drive for Windows, it comes preformatted NTFS for Windows 10, 8.1, and 7. If you happen to work across both Windows and Mac platforms, WD provides a downloadable NTFS driver for macOS, which enables the reading and writing of this My Passport Ultra drive without any reformatting. Or, make it fully Mac compatible with a simple reformat. Thanks to a 256-bit AES hardware encryption chip, your private files are kept more secure.

The 1.5 TB version is great capacity yet small enough to take in the field. I highly recommend.

I have several (6 external and 4 internal) WD drives. I have some of other brands. I made my choice – WD: quick, large, reliable.

Although this drive is USB 3.0 compatible, my computer has only USB 2.0 ports. No matter, the drive is functioning perfectly anyway. It’s small in size, but big in capacity, with plenty of room for my file needs.

I often use this drive when I edit video for storage of intermediate renders. This helps to keep enough free memory on my MBP SSD drive for use by running apps. The file read/write time is sufficiently fast not to hinder my workflow. I also take this drive with me when I travel as one of my back-up drives.

Have been using this drive for about 5 months and have had no problems at all.

Use it mostly for backing up my photos and video files. Had over 410GB of files and it took just over an hour (67+ minutes). I bought this one and the blue 1TB one (for a gift). If and when I fill this one up, this is the HD I’ll buy again. Love it. B&H rocks!!! FEDEX shipping is far from being tops. Sat in Belleville, MI for 3 days.

Delivered ready to use on a Windows or OSX computer: Connect the drive and you’re set to go. In my case, I reformatted it for use win OSX only. Cost? Economical. Sure you can indeed larger capacity drives, but I believe 1TB is large enough to hold pretty much all that is in my computer.

The design is nice, the 4 TB is awesomely large, but I am concern about the data integrity of my drive. Already, I have multiple incidents during my 1 month uses 1) I got your hdd is not formatted when plugin to a computer, though I lost all my data. 2) 3 times where I windows want to scan the drive because it detects error with the drive.
